Don't you think Golovkin could draw better than Berto ?

So exactly what does Bumlovkin have that Mayweather would want? Cotto has the MW title *and* Mayweather Cotto is a bigger fight.

    Probably, but not significantly.

Berto is an obvious soft touch selection, which is somewhat deserved given the fact that he just emerged victorious in his career defining victory against a long time rival and fellow ATG in the so called "Fight of the Century" that shattered all previous PPV records.

But it's obvious to me and others, that the choice of Berto most likely stems from the fact Floyd is looking to ensure 49-0 before taking a much bigger money fight (presumably against Pac or the Cotto-Canelo winner) to attempt to go out 50-0.

At the end of the day, Floyd has almost nothing to gain fighting Golovkin, who's risky, brings average B-side credentials (by Floyd's standards), and would do little for Floyd's legacy should he win.

I think Golovkin has far more to gain daring to be great by facing Ward, than Floyd has to gain by facing Golovkin.

It's like you guys want to punish the fighters with *****. Dude was undersized and outweighed by 15 pounds each time he went to 154. But did it anyway. And the Cotto fight was a vicious one. Because he had the ***** to go to 154 he's responsible to now fight middleweights who are going to come down?

But we don't punish fighters who don't have the ***** to go up? BeCAUSE GGG didn't have the ***** to go to 168. So he should be absolved of any responsibility of fighting SOG.

    It's crazy to me.

    No agenda.

I tend to rank fighters who have shown recent form. You know, defeated a relevant contender in the weight class within the last 12 or 18 months, or at least knocked over a series of fringe ones.
Otherwise it's not fair on active fighters who are actually accomplishing things.

I know some people probably rank Vitali Klitschko and David Haye as current heavyweight contenders. That's a problem with boxing these days. You have to draw the line somewhere.

GGG should move up and face Ward he has never fought an elite fighter his whole career. There's no one at 160 who can challenge him. Also I have no problems with Ward moving up to 175 and facing Kovalev but if that happens Ward-GGG will never take place because he won't be moving back down.

So who would you favor over Ward at 168? At 175?

This is another one of those new boogeyman, catch 22 situations for grandpa Floyd. If he moves up to MW, it has nothing to do with skill and pure size. If GGG comes down to 154 and Floyd school him, people will just cry weightdrained and give Floyd zero credit.

True. A lot of these new Golovkin fans are just old Pac fans who want a new guy to latch on to.

ward did not do anything lately to be significant. the greater challenge and reward is going after the p4p #1 and self proclaimed tbe. it is a challenge for him to risk his weight for the lineal 154 belt. ward has a lot to do before even being in the p4p list.

    Wait? What?

Are you seriously suggesting that Floyd poses a bigger threat to Golovkin than Ward does? That can't possibly be what you meant.

I'm not saying Mayweather should fight Golovkin.
I'm saying people shouldn't complain about Golovkin wanting to fight Mayweather.
Why is Malignaggi b!tching about it ? Why are all Mayweather's fans b!tching about it ?

Cotto should fight Golovkin, because Golovkin has earned his shot at anyone at 160.
