Casual boxing fans definitely know about Marciano. And yeah they'd know the difference if He fought Thurman,Khan, or Bradley. Those guys are known to casuals. Berto isn't.

Based on what? I'm not here to defend Berto as some worlding beating opponent because he isn't but Berto is over Algeri right now on experience alone and Lopez is better than anyone Dan has fought also is better than Callazo's last relevant win.
Monroe Jr,Bandu,Galvin,Rodriguez Berto is better than all these guy's.

Only reason he somewhat gets away with it is because he has clout, Mayweather has unified 5/8 titles at WW/JMW recently. For me a soft touch isn't ideal but understandable.

Berto is more known than Thurman and Brook to casuals. Khan and Bradley are definitely bigger names. And I doubt casuals know who Marciano is, when they hear Rocky, they'll associate it to the movies right away.

Algieri yes, and he's around the same level as Collazo, but Dan and Gavin? LMFAO **** no. Dan and Gavin are 100% bum.

Talking about casuals I mean guys who pay decent attention to the sport but not those who go on boxing forums.

To the general public that would be true though.

those casuals dont give a **** about floyd tying Marciano. the only casuals are the general public who barely watch boxing but have heard of Marciano.

I can't speak for all of the casuals but from the people I know they definitely think it's an important milestone.
There is a gap between people who keep up with boxing and watch it on HBO regularly(but don't go into all the technicalities like on this forum) and those who only Have watched Floyd vs Pacquiao and some Tyson highlights.

I think that's an incredibly percentage, there are tons of casuals popping up on my fb due to the manny/floyd fight, and no one gives a flying fk about the Marciano record. Maybe if he was passing it but tying it means nothing.

Again not talking about those casuals( My fault I was probably unclear). For example the guys that go to my boxing gym, They don't post on forums and talk about the technicalities of the sport, but they know the major milestones in the sport.

And we both know part of the build up to this fight will be the record.

Let's call a spade a spade if given 5 choices for who Mayweather should fight next no one would say Berto, only somewhat pass he gets it through equity built up. This is the end maybe one more big one for #50 but that's all she wrote.

Hopefully these new fighters put in half of the work guys like May & Pac did to get to this point.
