Do people really think that Floyd is the ONLY boxer in history who cherry-picked in their prime?

Foreman didn't do **** in their actual fight.

Stop fantasising that Foreman would have done anything to a much better version of Ali.

If Cooper, Banks, Wepner blah blah blah.

Foreman had his chance and he blew it.

Half the fun of boxing is speculating about what would have happened in different fights. There's no doubt Foreman lost badly to Ali. What I was saying is that he lost to the Ali most suited to beating him. Movement and athleticism was less important than smarts and chin. That fight is usually recognized as the greatest fight of all time showcasing in ring intelligence; its his strategy and ability to execute it that won him the fight. That's something that developed over time, I can't see a mid twenties Ali doing that to Foreman.

Some fighters had very short "primes" so there are probably many who would fit some peoples' description. And low level journeyman often don't have the luxury.

"Cherry pick" is the worst term around. Just a cute way of saying "I personally don't like the fight being discussed."

Every fighter signs a contract for each of their fights. Therefore, they all pick their opponents. Or, to those who don't like the fight, they all "cherry pick" their opponents.

Molina and Diaz, at 143 CW, back to back.

While I don't use the term "cherry picking," I would call that selecting less than dangerous or worthy challengers. This is especially true if we are holding boxers to the manner which they view and boast about themselves. Few view and boast themselves higher than Khan does.

Absolutely not! He fought top opposition on a regular basis. However he did have a cherry pick.

went to indonesia for john rather than do pac 2.

then chose lesser threat in jandaeng, then jaca. likar ramos instead of judah and d diaz, fedchenko instead of judah and rios, alvarado instead of provo.
