Charles wouldn't even be a top 5 ranked HW in the 70's..its a losing argument.I do dismiis every HW before ali they would all get crushed by a guy like lewis ,its not hard to see why.I will also add this was before ali fought Frazier again and foreman, that ali of 74 would toy with Marciano,to big ,smarter and more durable.I also disagree regarless .Frazier had more work output with punches thrown than the rock, lets not forget that Frazier also WON that fight in his prime in 71.

Makes sense to me. I wouldn't pick any of them head to head against Tyson or the skilled 230lb+ modern heavies. I wouldn't pick some of the early 20th century guys over the top modern cruisers and light-heavies.

Who really thinks it's all about size? If you don't see the huge difference between Frazier/Mathis, Ali/Bugner, and Dempsey/Oafs on the one hand and Marciano/Lewis on the other, I don't know what to tell you.

    Lets get one thing straight.

I don't give a fukk what you or any other fanboy THINKS.

There is an interview on this board of Marciano appearing on Australian TV in which he says to the guy. " What you have to remember is my reach was only 67 inches. "

Holyfield's is generally accepted as 78 inches. I neither know nor care where you went to school but in my day 67 + 11 = 78.

And yes, Marciano did have the skills of a gnat, compared to the likes of Louis, Liston, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Lewis, both Klitchko brothers, and plenty more besides.

If that upsets you, tough, I couldn't care less.

As for Marciano training " down " that is bollox. What he did was turn himself from a stumpy little fat guy into a Cruiserweight by today's standards, and not even a big one at that.

Like I said before, lets see how many Heavies from Liston onward's who could dine out by boasting," my highest level of opposition was winning the title from a 36 year old, rematching him when he was 37, I also beat 2 journeymen if I'm being kind to them, plus 2 Light Heavies, one of which was almost 39."

The great irony is, I suspect if Marciano was still alive he wouldn't make half as much noise about his resume as his idiot fans do.

I would not say Moore gave Marciano Hell. He put him down briefly early & then Marciano dominated & overwhelmed him.

Marciano was not 5' 11", lited 1/2" shorter, but next to Ali looked at best 5' 9".
Lewis is listed as an 84" reach.

Rocky in some llater fights like cs. Moore did have the workrate of Frazier or anyone.

    Just some factual corrections.

Where did you learn to be so stupid? Do you realise Joe bugner, Dwayne Bobick, Mac Foster and even an ancient Floyd Patterson were all legitimately ranked as high as #5 throughout the 1970s!! Charles had guys like that for breakfast.

    wow. ....Just wow.:patsch
This weakens your argument because nobody who thinks Marciano would be competative in this match up is this biased.

    doubtful.

What a silly thing to say.

What is your definition of skill? Please explain.

Skill is required to overcome reach and Marciano overcame reach in every fight he ever had.

Lewis had what the layman would consider traditional skills since he was physically long enough to make a show of it in an obvious way. That's proberbly how you understand it and reached that decision.

But shorter guys who only have raw strength to utilize still have to make an opening. Especially against good fighters. Subtle fients to draw counters. Knowing where to stand. How to break Rhythm. How to get a guy to think he needs to move to where you want him. It looks different. They might be clumsy looking doing it but if it works against good fighters, that's skill.

The impression I get when it comes to threads like these is that it essentially boils down to preserving the memory of old-time fighters, as if the older and smaller fighter's entire legacy is diminished because he 'loses' some fantasy fight on a message board.
    Understandble but uneccessary.

By qualifying this with under 200lbs
This implicitly flies in the face of those that give Marciano a great chance of beating Lennox Lewis.

I dunno about that. I think the consensus is that somebody like Lewis would be expected to win over Marciano. What some of us take exception to is that a win is assured, or that a win would be contemptuously easy. I don't think so.
