Also, the value of certain fights is either not known, or cannot be paid without ppv. A promoter cannot say to hbo showtime etc. that fighter "a" needs to be paid 10 mil because that's what he's worth, and fighter "b" two mil. PPV, is way of proving what fighters and fights are worth as well as the way to pay them. There are many fights that guaranteed would not have been made without ppv, Floyd Pac being an easy one to call.
Probably by a new tv too. My 60" plasma is bout 5 yrs old, and the newer led ones are supposed to be just as good, though I'll probably go with an 80.
I don't think I will buy this one at full price. I may check it out at a bar or something. Same for May vs Berto (maybe at the theater). Canelo vs Cotto is the only one I think is worthy of the PPV price.
Damn, y'all lucky, not a single bar in OKC will probably have three G Lemmy.. and they got the nerve to call this a boxing town.
Most of Ohio the same. Every UFC PPV is on... everywhere, but only one national chain even puts regular HBO boxing on the screen. Its sad.:-(
There's not that much of a difference in image quality between HD and SD definitely not $10 worth. And yeah 25 would have been preferable.....but when was the last time a PPV was even close to 25, I remember paying 35 dollars for a WCW PPV in 1997.:verysad
PPV prices should drop before too long, because the time is not far off where the current crop of carriers can be dropped/ignored in favor of streaming distribution. The incentive is there, because they literally suck up half the revenue. Give it 3 years, and PPVs will drop about a 3rd in price or more and be on game consoles, Roku, AppleTV, etc.
Yeah that's one thing I can envy about UFC, it's a seen as a Saturday night sporting social event and so they have it all the bars all the time. Helps to have a mostly white audience I'm sure.
Uhmm, yes. There is a huge difference between 1080 and 480. Huge! Most people don't mind the difference, I'll give you that. But as someone involved in professional video, delivering final products on DVD makes me cringe, because the high def is wasted. That said, I would always bay the extra $10 for HD, myself. And I know that $25 is a pipe dream, but I'll probably just read IB's RBR for 10 minutes or so while the fight lasts and catch the replay the following week. Same with Floyd-Berto, and probably even Cotto-Canelo. I may buy Mosley-Mayorga though. WAR MOSLEY! :bbb
I'm not sure I agree with you on the price dropping at all, let alone that much. I guess time will tell. :smoke
I'm one of those people that don't mind the difference, I'll pay for mostly because I'm a GGG and Lemieux fanboy, but also the undercard is starting to look pretty solid. I'll follow IB's RBR for Berto-Mayweather. Buy Canelo-Cotto although it'll probably be $75:| as far as Mosley-Mayorga goes....I really want to see it......but its pretty sad and can't quite bring myself to order it.
No more than half the price of each to watch. And the rest is a variable expense. It depends on how faded I want to be. [emoji41]
