I don't understand how you can be such a big boxing fan, yet not be able to properly assess a fighters skill or ability in the least

GGG in pretty much every single fight has shown amazing skill, intelligent pressure, is a master at reading space and movement, and was always in control of the fight.

Tell me when GGG has ever convincingly lost the first half of a fight and got a miraculous come from behind KO while being way down on the card, I'm waiting.

A guy like wilder or Stevenson is killing his opposition, yet people still call them hype job because they think they have some big holes in their game, so why can't a guy like Khytrov who has trouble knocking these guys out be criticized when he shows to be lacking in a bunch of areas

And what will you say when he KO's his next opponents viciously? You'll still probably bash him because of some silly agenda you have.

I'm just pointing out that the way he's fighting in the pros is atypical to how great amateurs fight when they struggle to adapt to the pro game, that's all....

I don't usually get involved, but I think you particularly dislike Khytrov.

You write posts being very critical of him and edit them to add "but I like him" "I hope he does well though".

Just come out and say you don't like him instead of having an open ended and safe stance on him.
If he doesn't succeed YOU can say that you knew it all along.

But if he becomes a top p4p fighter in the next 5-10 years, you can go "I always said I liked him" or " I'm happy for him", to soften the blow of being incorrect.

lol I think you're jumping the gun a little too early on my comment, I do believe that eventually things will align, the cream will rise to the top.
He has been doing things wrong, but by doing things wrong you are specialising, and his upside potential is massive.

This thread is not a hatred of Khytrov, he's been one of my faves and I've been a massive fan of his. Even on another forum I used to have him up as my avatar for a while in 2013.

GGG vs Ouma I'd say is a true off-night performance, that's what we'd call a definite anomaly and I can believe him when he says he wasn't feeling well, Khytrov didn't look much better or wose last night, he looked the same to me.

Clearly Khytrov isn't on GGG's levels BUT NOT MANY ARE, and GGG wasn't that spectacular when he first went pro, he had a few kinks to work out as well.

And he's been in with a bunch of guys with decent chins who tend to be slick and are good at avoiding being KO'd yet he still KO's 11 out of 10 of them.

Actually, now that we're talking about Golovkin, Khytrov needs to get in touch with Abel Sanchez, a perfect trainer for him.

Also GGG is a unique case. But I'm sure if I take my time and really look, I can come up with a fight where a similar thing happened with a different GREAT fighter.

    I can see it now....

He couldn't get Bouadla or Gardner out in 8 rounds.....you know what that means....hypejob:lol: So silly.

Khytrov was in there with a slick good fighter last night, and happened to be sick and all of these people act like he did a terrible job other than winning the last 4 maybe 5 rounds with 2 10-8's thrown in there to cap it off.

    :deal
Derevyanchenko is FINESSE. Very nice to watch a fluent combination puncher, no doubt he'll go far. I think Canelo should study Sergiy. Speaking of Canelo, I don't think Sergiy had Gasnelogitis as he got through 8 rounds easily.

Quigley has great upside potential like Khytrov. Murata has a lot to work on.

I don't know what Mytrofanov's motivation is like these days, but hopefully he can turn pro..I can see him doing great things @ MW.

Nothing, I'd be happy I'm a fan of the guy and genuinely want him to do well, but I don't let that cloud my judgement, the guy has looked bad in every fight he's had this year, and I'm pointing it out.

I'm just a big boxing fan, and routinely watch every fight on tv, regardless of who's boxing, so I can set aside who I like or who I dislike as a boxer and withou bias assess their ability.

I've watched Khytrov since the 2012 Olympics and seen every single one of his pro fights, along with pretty much every other guy that turned pro from Ukraine's golden generation of ammy boxers, and some guys have looked better than others. From day one, Ive said guys like Redkach, Shabranskyy, and Shelyestuk (probably some more) didn't have what it takes to be belt holders of champs, while guys like Usyk and Lomachenko can be dominant champs

I didn't like what I saw of Khytrov. Easily, he's a loss waiting to happen. I haven't seen him be on par with the hype in any of his fights. I'm not sure about regressing because I don't know his amateur career, but he doesn't look like a good prospect. I think he'll get Vasily Lepikhin'd soon.

The other guy, Dervanchko (no idea how to spell it), looked phenomenal. This guy is a sensation. He's incredible I thought. Wow, just blew me away how this guy was. Technician is all I can say.

oh. Because I usually don't say about guys who are metaphorically speaking getting sent to have 2 bullets to the back of their heads (am I butchering the phrase?) "I like them" or "I hope they do well".

(I'm equating that to not succeeding)

I think he has the goods, and as he ages and finds the right team/ or vice versa I believe he will be a star.
