You mean Tyson *WAS* a bigger star. True.

However, put a 18 year old Mike in a time machine into 2010, would be end up becoming a bigger star than Floyd is in 2015? Not a chance in hell.

No. In this generation of raging feminists and hypersensitivity Tyson wouldn't be allowed to do anything. The world is a lot different now than it was in the 80/90s.

Mike Tyson is still a bigger name, just because he can't sell fights anymore does not change that.. A prime Tyson would be the biggest thing in boxing today, just as he was then.

    Spinks was a random nobody?

If it's clear to you that Mike wouldn't achieve anything today at HW, but he would if he'd have moved to LHW, I'd go and watch a different sport.

    You are absolutely DELUDED!

    Comedy gold.

    Mike losing is completely irrelevant.

You're talking about a guy who bit Evander's ear off etc.

It would have made no difference if he'd have lost.

If he was regularly active today, he'd be huge. He wouldn't even need to be in his prime.

You can't do direct comparisons, because you're talking about different fighters, from different eras.

You ask why isn't Wilder as big as Tyson was, after knocking out Berbick?

Well there's many, many reasons why:

    1. Wlad Klitschko had been 'The Man' at HW, for many years before Wilder beat Stiverne.

    2. There's more belts today.

    3. Stiverne isn't that popular. His biggest win/fight was against Chris Arreola.

    4. Wilder is 6'7 tall.

    5. He was 28 years old when he fought Stiverne.

    6. He'd been a professional for over 6 years.

    7. He won on points in a dull fight.

    8. Berbick was a known fighter, after fighting Ali and Holmes.

    9. He'd had good wins over the likes of Greg Page, David Bey and Pinklon Thomas.

    10. Mike was only 5'10.

    11. He was only 20 years old.

    12. He'd been a professional for less than two years.

    13. There was no 'Man' of the HW division in 1986.

    14. He had a unique and exciting style that hadn't been seen before.

    15. He wrecked Berbick in under 6 mins.

    16. He made history as the youngest champ of all time.

    17. He had an aura of menace surrounding him.

    18. He'd had a famous trainer who'd just passed away.

How many more reasons do you want?

When Mike came on the scene and made waves, he was an absolute phenom. The boxing world was incredibly excited. When Wilder came on the scene and made waves, people reserved judgement.

The boxing world, as well as the world in general, was very different almost 30 years ago.
