Dempsey has always seemed to me to be the most overrated. Never understood his high ranking. I think it was his effect on society. He was immensely popular, etc. But he never beat anyone great, and lost to Tunney twice in his only match up with another all time great. Wasn't busy, etc. Just never understood why so many consider him so great. But, then again I wasn't there either.

I think the 90's give it a good run.

    Over rated:

    Floyd

(who is very good, but not as good as many of his fans
think, never seen enough power from him above 130 to make
me think he could hang with the Duran's or the SRL's of the
    world)

    Ali

(for much the same reason, had a few close decisions not gone his way we might not be worshiping the guy the way we are. top 10 yes, but not top 5. Had a very strange style, don't think he ever threw a body punch, moved his head straight back etc. It worked for him, but it certainly wasn't text book)

    Marciano

(I think he was very fortunate to fight in the era he fought in. I think a lot of ATG fighters, such as prime Louis, Liston, Ali, etc. would beat him.)

I disagree and call cow p00p (really? **** is censored on this site?). All three, and many more other greats, can be reasonably called "overrated" to an extent for various reasons, many of which I suspect have already been explained very well in this thread. C'mon, even Tyson? You don't see how Tyson can be or has been overrated? Especially by some of his young and rather enthusiastic fans?

    you apparently DKSAB
Ali? Louis? SRR? SRL? Duran? Tyson? Morales? Barrera? Toney? Holyfield?

ALL great fighters end up as punching bags, its the nature of the sport. Fighters that end on a high note are the exception. RJJ was a beast, i think he would absolutely dominate many great fighters that people on this forum worship. I think alot of people on this forum would be traumatized if they were able to see a prime RJJ against someone like Dempsey or Monzon. Roy was special. Yall Musta Forgot!

I don't know where people rank RJJ, but he's not the GOAT, although he is TBE.

At least I'm not delusional into thinking someone other than wills was number one contender from 1920-1926

    Wlad and Vitali

Floyd is in a class of his own. Incredibly overrated. He is a great fighter, but common!
