Was a learning fight for Quigg, he's gone up in the rankings winning in good fashion, whilst Frampton's cherry picking road sweepers and still managing to look awful.
You might be right in the long term, but short term: Windsor will be ready goodness knows when. Ditto Casement (and as you say I don't know if CF fans will go to Falls Road!) Kingspan is possible, but the dates Eddie Hearn has in mind will mean it's right in the middle of the Pro 12 season. And even as large stadia go, all of the above are pretty small. I wish he had a proper large arena in NI like the O2 London :?
Don't see what the problem with the salinas fight is anyway quigg won that fight by a couple of rounds. It's pretty much the only thing anyone can criticise him for and it was 2 years ago. Clutching at straws a bit there!
He's with Haymon now so they'll milk the Irish for all they're worth with ****-poor defences. Look at what they did with LSC.
Oh - wow - he beat Salinas by a few rounds eh? Even if he did, that in itself IS the problem. Look at Frampton - in his worst effort, he won 11 out of 12 rounds against Gonzalez - a far better fighter than Salinas.....
Yes your right. Some decent fighters there but has Santa Cruz not moved up. He is number 1. Take him away that's number 11. Gonzalez will be one that gets judged in a few years time. Like salinas now. Not as good a result as previously thought. I think quigg steam gave salinas to much respect that night. Bad performances happen. To better fighters than quigg and frampton as well.
Carl following in his mentors footsteps, only he managed to avoid the banana skin. Carl and his team are only excelling at one discipline lately, and thats talking. Him and his team have a very severe superiority complex, much like his fans. I can't wait to see how you'll all react when Quigg puts his lights out.
Why is that a problem. Quigg had little amateur experience and Salinas was a fantastic amateur. There's no shame in going in there dropping a few rounds and learning a few things even the best lose a round sometimes. I'd be more worried if he got dropped twice by jabs mate the only thing you learn from that is you can't take a punch
Heres why: Carl, by his own admission badly prepared and in his first fight stateside, against a very dangerous opponent, has a bad first round, two technical knockdowns (ok more 'touchdowns' but anyway).. ok? He goes back to his corner, regroups, makes intelligent adjustments and goes on to win all 11 remaining rounds, putting on a boxing masterclass, full of coolness and composure and guts in the process. Very impressive. Quigg, at home against Salinas, with every advantage, against a poor quality opponent, also has a bad first round. And a bad second round. And a bad third round.....blah blah etc etc... He shows no sign of having a 'boxing brain' - of making the kind of adjustments that were needed - in stark contrast to Carl. Geddit now Einstein?
There's a topic on the news screen of this fight that Santa Cruz wants Frampton at 122 after Mares. Both are with Haymon. I always had a suspicion Frampton signed with Haymon to build his name stateside for an eventual Cruz fight. I hope I'm right.
