In before all the Amir fans tell you he's got a better resume than Brook and that he has never ducked anyone it's in fact everyone ducking him

He's built up a few decent wins but you're right, in terms of an actual landmark win it's been too long

He's got more fans than anyone not named Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.

Yet fails to sell tickets for his fights.

    Care to explain that?

you mean a huge Asian fan base that don't give a **** about boxing at all, they have no idea who he fights, how he fights or anything like that, they care simply about his nationality, under 1% of them turn up for his fights hence why he has to give his tickets away, don't be followed by twitter followers

Especially as it's well-known that Amir buys his followers.

The story of Khan's career; talking about what could occur is far more interesting that what has actually occurred.

I don't think there is any doubting that Khan does have a pretty large fan base. He is one of the guys that people either love or hate and there really is no middle ground with him. He obviously has a large Asian fan base but also gained a large fan base with casual fans through competing in the Olympics, like many do. Also he is someone that most love to watch, shame he acts like a bellend in front of the camera really.

This is the Mayweather effect of being put into the sweep stakes when Khan was 2-2 and had Danny Garcia problems, but it didnt stop Mayweather putting Khan in the polls..

Khan moves upto 147 and looks really good in his first 2 fights and 3rd fight looked bit demotivated, Floyd dont wanna know him..

Khan knows he has not had a big fight for a while, Manny fight could be on the cards, and we could see him vs Bradley or Thurman later this year..

Im glad the Mayweather saga is over, it put Khan in safety first mode, I hope he goes back to his old ways..

Excellent post- yes Floyd brings much needed attention to boxing but he Is also very much like a cancer to the sport. None of the top welter guys are willing to face each other really as there all hoping to get the call from Mayweather which is holding up the division.

Khan seems to have shifted focus a bit towards Kell next summer - probably because it's one of the few massive fights which doesn't require Haymons approval (which must also be a relief for Hearn/Matchroom)- I think the fight happens which means khan will be in with a bum next - I wouldn't be surprised if he breaks from Haymon and does a co-promotion with Hearn to fight in the Uk against somebody like Jossito Lopez or something like that leading up to wembley

    Well said OP.

It's all a myth, Khans fan base is a myth, they give tickets away for his fights and nobody can dispute that, it happens often. I live in London, I travel quite a lot all over the place, been to many live events and shows amateur and pro and have never met a Khan fan and that's the truth.

I've met and spoke to people who say he is a good boxer, has been in entertaining fights but never a fan, I get the impression people watch him because they want to see him get slumped.

It's been over 3 years since Khan faced a genuine top 10 opponent in any weight class. Over 3 years, I keep repeating it, Over 3 years, it is a damning stat on his career and where he is at the moment considering the things he and his fans say.

Just because he is mentioned as a potential opponent for Pacquiao means nothing, Algieri actually fought Pacquiao, so what does that mean? Algieri is elite? It just means Khan is seen as cannon fodder for a Pacquiao comeback.

Khan fans defended the decision not to fight Brook in a potentially huge PPV event, a career high payday and for a world title because of the very slim chance he would get a undeserved Mayweather payday. That didn't happen, many of us said it wouldn't, we were told "wait and see".

What now? Well the same fans will do the same because Pacquiao's names been mentioned. It's getting silly and embarrassing. Khan will get more excuses made for him while he tried to protect that brittle chin and get a payday.

Wait until his next fight is announced, Khan has banged on for a year about being elite, being the best at welterweight, beating the P4P number one, so we will see what he serves up.

Even the most fierce Khan fan will have to turn on him if it is not a genuine top 10 welterweight, in fact a top 7 welterweight who can actually punch.
