That's not how it works. Cotto is the champ so he should make more money. But in terms of drawing revenue and viewers Canelo just does better.

How is that corrupt? Popularity always makes the most ban. John Malkhovich is ten times the actor of Arnold or Stallone but doesnt make nearly as much. Its the same in boxing. That isnt corrupt, its business.

Alvarez is the bigger draw. Cotto just has things that are of great value to Alvarez. He has a lineal title and a decent name. The chance of getting these two things are worth more to Alvarez than the chance of losing them for Cotto. Basically they had to split the purse so Cotto got a lot more money cause otherwise he would continue milking the belt and fighting bums for less coin, but much more security.

Obviously the person who averages bigger gates and bigger PPV numbers is the bigger draw. There is no other definition unless you have an agenda.
