Bruce Lee trained to KO you with the least minimum energy.. sure he was explosive.. but he conserved energy like a Bhop.. people who view sparring as a real match won't realise you'll have to have a sparring for the sparring. People who view sparring as a real contest.. will always fall short in a real match.. that's not to say you don't replicate Murphy's Law in sparring.. Sparring matters.. but it doesn't matter. It's like a mindset you should be working for 3 mins of every round.. ok if you combine it with everything else then fine.. but people usually fight like they train.. which is not a bad thing if it's done right.
Thats why ''barxing'' consists of twitter TKO's because british sparring is soft unlike in the Central Americas. Sparring north of the eqautor is considered a warm up for the ''barxing' its the mindset of a amateur. London ABA finals are the same
The option of a intercontinental title is always an option, its ''barxing'' without the dangers of getting hit
I did a similar thread on this a good while back... I know "it's only sparring" but it's still interesting. A lot of what you hear and read is probably bull**** though... - A young Ricky Hatton getting dropped with a body shot by Pat Barrett. - That tit Anthony Small putting it on Degale which ended up with Jim McDonnell going loopy. - Froch dropping a young George Groves. Also heard Callum Johnson & Ryan Aston put him down as well. - Groves getting the better of Kessler before Kessler/Froch 2. Groves also dropping GGG over in Big Bear. - Ricky Burns dropping Tommy Coyle. - Herol Graham running rings around Eubank.. then Eubank caught him with a right hand and knocked him clean out. - Brendan Ingle telling a packed press conference that Johnny Nelson & Graham "stood Eubank" on his head and Eubank got out of the ring. - Danny Williams knocking out Herbie Hide. - Alex Arthur boxing the ears off Nate Campbell over at the WildCard not long after his defeat to Michael Gomez. - Haye knocking out David Price when Price was under 'Hayemaker' & Booth. - Erislandy Lara beating up on Hatton before the Pac fight. - Lennox and Tyson sparring when they were young kids... 15 or 16. - Benavidez dropping Khan when Khan was working with Roach. Heard before that Peter Mcdonagh also dropped Khan in sparring, think this was prior to the Limond fight. - Brook & Khan both saying they 'schooled' one another when they were teens. - Takaloo putting it on Wayne Alexander..... but when all know what happened when they fought. What a ****ing KO that was! - Apparently the John Simpson / Carl Frampton spars were the *******s... not sure if Billy would have been there to see this? Can't think of any more off the top of my heard that I've heard! There has to be some sort of perspective on sparring though. A lot of the time fighters will be working on certain aspects of there game, trying new things etc... also you could have one guy that's been in camp for a number of weeks so is sharp and in top shape sparring with a fighter who's either not in camp or has just begun.
It's all Barxing/Barking etc. Find the centre of gravity in the ring and the jab is an upside to a thunderbolt that was only a third of the way there etc. Barxing/Barking etc.
But a good jab can be a ''oxymoronic'' image of a boxer, a good jab doesnt =Pernell Whittaker. Its Ricky Hatton as the WBU
