Talk is cheap. All Cotto has to do is fight Gennady. Then we'll see if what you say holds any real merit.

If both of these two win their next fights, there would be no excuse for Cotto to avoid fighting GGG.

If he belongs with any other middleweights, he belongs with GGG. And I didn't say mean to say he had no *****, I meant purely in terms of him being willing to fight GGG, which he is not and never will be most likely, but GGG will be able to get his belt at least and Cotto can move back down or do whatever he wants rather than holding the belt hostage from the actual best fighter in the division.

I hope that Canelo wins though and we can have an awesome fight on our hands.

    Not an easy read. :blood

Anyway, I agree that there is nothing overly impressive in Golovkin beating Cotto.

However, the fight should happen as long as Cotto is pretending to be a middleweight champion. Cotto being a little guy is completely irrelevant in such situation. If someone is calling himself a king, no matter how weak he is, he is obligated to fight the top guy.

And no matter what Cotto has done in the past and how many titles has he won, there is no honor in winning a title and then avoiding the top guy at all costs.

If some flyweight champion moved up to welterweight and magically defeated Mayweather, he would have an obligation to defend the title against the top welterweights despite being a natural flyweight.

cotto doesnt go around calling himself the mw king...he even says "im not a middleweight"......

the opportunity to fight for the belt presented itself....at a catch...against a guy that had campaigned at 154.....he took it and won....hes holding that belt for a megafight with canelo....and ya cant blame him

if cotto were to beat canelo and still hold the belt without fighting ggg? then id have a problem with it....but i dont have a problem with what hes doing now.....

Irrelevant what he says about it. As long as he holds the title, he is obligated to fight GGG.

If not, then simply surrender the title.

There are couple of problems with that:

    1) Cotto fought Geale instead of Golovkin.
    2) Cotto was supposed to fight Canelo and not Geale, that's why he was granted an exception by WBC. He basically tricked everyone and had an extra fight on a borrowed time.
    3) Golovkin offered to fight Cotto there and then, but Cotto simply refused and fought Geale.
    4) Cotto never deserved a fight for MW title to begin with.

Right now, Cotto is like a parasite.

Never had anything against him, but he has done great injustice recently and he doesn't even bother to make it right. Plus his attitude is hard to be tolerated.

he had the belt for a year....its not like hes been holding out forever...lolol......wasnt ggg talking about fighting froch and chavez a year ago and even a few months ago? how come unifying wasnt such a top priority when he was talking about fighting 168 lbers?

cotto has parlayed his win over sergio into a mega fight with canelo....hes not tricking anyone or being a parasite...hes lookin out for himself and fattening up that bank account for retirement...it was a luxury afforded to him by sergio and cottos own hard work over the years

Solid points, I tend to agree. You did make a solid argument as to how it is not GGG's fault that he hasn't been able to face a true marquee name.

I know. GGG will never be the 155 Pound Champion of the World.

It doesn't matter if he held a belt for a single day, he was never supposed to fight Geale or anyone else. He tricked WBC into allowing him one fight, because WBC and everyone else believed that he was going to fight Canelo and not Geale.

Sergio Martinez was supposed to fight Golovkin, but due to his injury layoff, it was ok to face Cotto first as a comeback fight.

Then Cotto won, and since than he has had an obligation to fight Golovkin. No excuses, no luxury, no anything. We all know that he doesn't belong there, he's on borrowed time and he's behaving exactly like a parasite.

That is why Cotto will never be a true champion. He doesn't have what it takes to be the true champ.

Wladimir Klitschko gave Haye 50% of the purse, just so that he could make that fight. That's the champ.

Meanwhile Miguel Cotto requests pink ring or he won't fight.

GGG is a nice guy he will help carry Cotto's stretcher out of the venue after knocking him into next week if the fight ever gets made

That was the public perception prior to the fight, doesn't have anything to do with my personal opinion. Most of the public viewed the fight as a nice payday for Sergio before fight Golovkin. Not sure if you was on here during that time, but you can ask other users about it, that was really what most people thought.

Well, I have nothing to do with it.

Tune-up or not, it doesn't change anything in the current situation.
