cotto didnt trick anyone man....no one thought he was gonna fight canelo when he fought geale...they granted him the geale fight knowing that hed fight canelo next

ggg fans need to stop crying about this stuff.....poor guy is fighting b- level fighters one after another...and then his fans are crying about him being froze out of some belt when everyone pretty much recognizes him as the best mw anyway

What Golovkin was "talking" about SMW is irrelevant to the topic regarding Golovkin and Cotto. He never fought over MW limit so let's not leave the topic.

This is incorrect. He was given one fight before fighting Golovkin, because Cotto and Canelo were in the negotiations. Cotto didn't agree to Canelo's terms and used that granted exception to fight Geale. Golovkin offered him a fight after Canelo fight fell through, but Cotto still turned down Golovkin and fought Geale.

I am not some big GGG fan, and would react exactly the same if Golovkin was in Cotto's position and done what Cotto has done. No need to use such phrases as a defensive mechanism in an argument like this.

Golovkin is facing David Lemieux next, the IBF middleweight champion. If he is the 34th can, then Cotto would certainly be the 35th can if he ever managed to find the dignity and fought the top middleweight.

Or Cotto can simply drop the title.

 

cotto is a hof fighter with a great resume....lemeiux has lost to rubio and alcine...lol.....dignity has nothing to do with it

so lemme get this straight? cotto was negotiating with canelo and he was gonna have to fight ggg after that? so cotto would have to fight canelo and ggg back to back? is this what alot of top champs are doing these days? fighting hellacious fights with a level fighters back to back? i doubt that was ever going to happen.......same with canelo...if he beats cotto you think hes gonna take on ggg right after cotto especially if its a tough fight?

they were working on preliminary terms for a cotto/canelo fight and they knew it would happen ....and cotto was granted a defense in the meantime

what if cotto dropped the title right now? and ggg fought heiland for it? then what? do we know anything that we didnt already know? what does it do for ggg? except give him another win over a nobody? that title isnt really relevant......he doesnt really need it...he just wants cottos name since cotto has the belt.......if that belt were vacant and he was fighting heiland for it nobody would really give a damn about it

but calling a hof fighter names because he wont fight ggg is sad....especially when said hof fighter doesnt really belong in the ring with a career 160lber......people keep calling cotto names over a guy who hasnt beaten or even fought a fighter above a b- grade......

i have no problem with ggg ....he can keep fighting the geales and macklins and lemeiuxs of the world....and retire unbeaten for all i care....doesnt bother me.....but his fanboys should leave cottos name out of it....

 

The Triple Duck has never fought over the 160lb limit but he DID sign the contract to fight Baby Chavez @ 168lbs - so your point is MOOT.

He doesn't have to fight anyone, just drop the title.

All he needs to do is to surrender his title and he will have absolutely no obligation to fight Golovkin or anyone else at middleweight. Just drop the title and stop preventing other fighters from fighting for it.

Fine, drop the belt! Let Golovkin and Heiland or whoever else fight for it and stop stalling.

Yes you can call Heiland a nobody or whatever. He still deserves an opportunity just like everyone else.

GGG might want Cotto because of the name, but it doesn't really matter. I'm not one of the GGG cheerleaders who is concerned about Golovkin becoming bigger "name" or not. I've always been following MW division and will do after Golovkin. Today Golovkin is the top guy, tomorrow it's somebody else. If Cotto doesn't want to fight, all he needs to do is vacate and let the real middleweights settle it among themselves.

The only two names I've seen him willing to fight at 168 have been Froch and Chavez, for self explanatory reasons.

my whole point is...cotto has no business fighting ggg in the first place....its a mismatch....

cotto does want to fight...hes fighting canelo...in nov...its a megafight....hell be making 22 mil for it too......yer acting like cotto isnt fighting....he just knocked out one of gggs best wins in 4 rounds.....he fighting....he just shouldnt be fighting ggg....ggg is the combination of too big and too good for cotto.....cotto is basically admitting it......yet some still seem to want to see cotto spill blood to prove it.....

cotto has earned the right to hold that belt and walk away with a mega fight.....if he were to beat canelo and try to fight on without vacating or fighting ggg then id have a problem....hes had the belt for a year and will be giving us a good one.....

ggg fans just keep harping on the cotto situation because of who cotto is ...and they are embarrassed by gggs resume(or lack of one)...so they keep using cottos name to tie it to ggg......because it makes it sound like ggg is playing with the big boys in the sport as opposed to who hes really been playing with.......
