If Mike Tyson was around today, would he be a bigger star than Floyd?

The thing about Tyson was he created massive hype which was as much a reason he made big purses as his ko's, the fact he was 21/22 and had a bad rep for being a thug in and out of the ring, a womaniser and coke fiend. It all drew in bucks, especially when he first got out the jail. People like spectacle, and those that hated him were probably even more likely to pay to watch him. He'd find it a lot tougher in today's scene than the **** poor one in 85/86 and he'd have to get by on much smaller purses , certainly to begin with.

I agree with a lot of what you've wrote. Things would definitely be a lot different if he turned pro today. But I still believe that he could potentially have made the crazy money that Floyd has if he was active.

Tyson fought Spinks 30 years ago and made $25m.

Money most fighters dont make today.

The point im trying to make is, Tyson-Spinks today would have made a lot more money.

Tyson got $35m for Holyfield and that was 20 odd years ago.

Tyson would blitz todays division just as he did 30 years ago.

He spark that 38 year old Wladmir.

I know you're his d1ckrider, but that just isn't true going by some of his performances 85-87 against lesser lights than today's scene. He'd have to get through guys like Joshua and Parker, never mind the established contenders like Povetkin who is a league ahead of Berbick. No chance he makes the same impact.

Smith, Ferguson, Green, Tillis, Tucker, Douglas, Ruddock.. take your pick. None of them are as good as Povetkin, or as good as Joshua and Parker imo, and certainly nowhere near the mighty 10 year king.

Firstly, please tell me which of these fights youve actually SEEN and not just read about.

Secondly Tyson would knock Povetkin out of the ring. Take that to the bank.

I'm 47 kid, I watched these fights live, all of them. And Povetkin would knock all the fighters I listed that early Mike struggled with out of the ring, take that to the bank.

Right you watched them all live. I believe you.

    Povetkin aint knocking out ****.

Tony Tucker went the distance with both a prime Lewis and a prime Tyson, and your telling me Povetkin is gonna do the job?

Povetkin took 11 rounds to KO an old shot Chris Byrd, something
Ike did in 5, years before when Byrd was in his prime.

James Tillis was a very experienced journeyman at the time of facing a young green prospect in Tyson. Up until that point, Tyson this was Tysons first name opponent, whereas Tillis had fought Weaver, Shavers, Thomas, Page, Witherspoon, Williams, Frazier, Coetzee and Biggs. Can you see the difference between an experienced fighter and a green prospect?

How many people knocked out Mitch Green?

Povetkin couldnt even KO Larry Donald, in Donalds last fight.

Bonecrusher Smith would probably knock Povetkin the **** out. And seeing as youve seen the Tyson/Smith fight, please tell me how many rounds Smith actually won? or how many significant punches he actually landed?

Does the name Nicola Firtha ring a bell?
KOd by Fury, KOd by Wilder, Kod by Tye Fields, but guess who couldnt KO him, yep your boy Povetkin.

Face it, Povetkin is probably the second best of this era, but Tyson would beat him ****less.

Just reading boxrec and picking all the guys Tyson went the distance with doesnt mean Povetkins going to beat Tyson.

You fail to mention the amount of guys Tyson did knock the **** out.

    But thats another post.

AJ has done nothing yet. He's nothing more than a prospect at this stage.

How did Tyson struggle against Ferguson?

He beat the **** out of him from pillar to post and stopped him in the 6th?

Ferguson also beat a prime Ray Mercer, about 10 years before Wladmir fought him.

I bet you cant even NAME 5 world class fighters Povetkin has koed. If you can please go ahead.

    Ill help you out
    1) Hasim Rahman in 2012, about a decade after Rahmans prime.
    2) Chris Byrd in 2007, years after Byrds prime.......
    3)........

Shaun George Koed Byrd in his very next fight much quicker than Povetkin did. Who the **** is Shaun George?
