Tony Zale vs the MW of the last 30 yrs

Some of you don't seem to be following the discussion too well. Suzie's point was that he doesn't have much confidence in Zale performing well against fighters from the most recent era because he failed to fight so many of the best fighters in his own era. You guys reply by going on and on about how it was understandable that Zale failed to fight so many top opponents because he served our country and wanted to make money when he came back and he's not an evil racist. Irrelevant to Suzie's main point.

How these revisionists avoid the truth to serve their agenda ?
They always choose Ray robinson as the greatest P4P fighter though he could of {I was around those days], were he a risk taker and truly sympathetic to some terrific black fighters plight and given some of them a well deserved money shot, BUT NEVER DID. Whilst a Harry Greb fought everyone of every color, fighting style, and weight, and they still chose a SRR over Greb. This
smacks to me of hypocrisy, pure and simple...
A poster claims for example that Georgie Abrams a terrific fighter fought some tough black fighters who Tony Zale DID NOT fight...
But Tony Zale whipped Georgie Abrams though Zale did not fight some black contender that Abrams fought. It shows me that some guys are prejudiced against some fighters who don't subscribe to their personal agenda , whilst other fighters get a free pass. Whoever and whatever Tony Zale fought, Tony Zale was a patriot and a helluva body puncher and great fighter to boot. Today I and his holier than thou detractors have no idea what would have happened to Zale's career had not WW2 occurred taking the prime Zale away for 4 prime years ?
He most likely have fought Ray Robinson if Robby would have
agreed to this fight...cheers...

I don't blame Tony Zale. the reigning world middleweight champion, for not fighting Charley Burley, Archie Moore, Holman Williams and a number of other black fighters of the so-called "Murderers' Row" after serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. None of the "Murderers' Row" fighters were big gate attractions at the time, especially compared to Rocky Graziano. In addition, Graziano was considered a far less formidable fighter than the best in the welterweight and middleweight divisions, which also was a very important consideration for a rusty and older Zale. As a result, it is little wonder that Zale and Graziano fought each other three times while far better popular fighters such as Jake LaMotta and Sugar Ray Robinson didn't get world middleweight title shots until 1949 and 1951 respectively.

Right on ! As you say. Who could blame Tony Zale after serving 4 long years in the Navy. living on a Gob's salary for 4 years and when Tony was discharged at the rusty age of 32, he took a few tune-up bouts and signed to fight Rocky Graziano who was the
greatest MW ring attraction after Rocky an 1-8 underdog
flattened a young sensational Philly fighter named Billy Arnold who kod about everyone he fought in Joe Louis fashion, thus Arnold was called the "new Joe Louis"...I should know, because I saw that exciting upset at MSG...This sensational ko made Rocky
famous and Zale took this lucrative money match which any sane fighter looking to support his family would have done...Zale knew he didn't have much left in the tank, and he and the grenade throwing go for broke Graziano sure gave the ticket holders their money's worth...But some posters of today who have no idea of
those times, and love to pull a decent great fighter like Zale down to buttress their agenda, thus making them feel "superior".

Marciano avoided no one, his manager was a bit leery of Valdes by all accounts, [he had to be conned into putting Rocky in with Johnny Shkor,] but Moore effectively eliminated Valdes.
Louis could have fought several black challengers that he missed but boxing isn't about black or white ,it's all about GREEN$£$£$.
