The three guys that went the distance with Briedis had only been stopped once in 115 combined bouts as of when he fought them. One is the very slick and tough Ismail "Cool" Abdoul.

Briedis needs to start harpooning all these whales, sick and tired of guys like Charr in the heavyweights.

Mairis is really a quality guy. In the years I have know him, its been about just getting a chance on bigger stages. Maybe this will help him. Good quality boxer that just needs the proper stage to show it to the fans.

    So happy for him

Charr is the only one to blame. There are only so many shot, past fighters out there, and most of them are fighting Wilder. Eventually you're bound to run into a live body. At least this guy was coming up in weight.

Bonus coverage on this mixed-disciplines fight card.

The main event is a kickboxing match, apparently.

Dževad Poturak vs. Zabit Samedov, 3 rounds @ super heavyweight

    I never said he wasn't. :?

I said that him beating Charr wouldn't mean that much (and that Charr wouldn't get much credit either for beating a cruiser moving up in his debut after having not fought any better competition than shot Williams, Abdoul, or Suda)

...but, I wasn't expecting him to score a teeter-totter face-plant knockout of the year candidate. That much is very eye-opening.

I knew Mairis was a danger and would win. Bad choice for Charr . Mairis can bang!

Come on, no you weren't. Nobody was expecting a cruiser that hasn't fought many live bodies to carry power up to heavy when their power even at cruiser was still kind of a question mark.
