You're not very good if Haye is a stylistic nightmare for you. Unless you rate the ghost of John Ruiz and Audley Harrison.
Have you? Wlad throws way more punches than Holy and the guy is almost 6'7! Wlad was just throwing a lot more power punches before and trying to KO people. Now he breaks them down a lot more.
He throws more clinches than punches. Holy combined moving, hitting and defence all into one. His rapid fire combos would reach double digits. Evander used never stop moving. He didn't need to rest down on guys every 10 seconnds to conserve his energy like Wlad has to.
At age 39, Klitschko is 64-3 (53) overall, 25-2 in World title fights (tied for 1st all-time with Joe Louis in HW history for most title fights fought in with 27), and 10-2 (6) against former belt holders. He won a world title in his 36th pro fight. Klitschko has beaten the most undefeated fighters in boxing history (12) while stopping most of them (7).
Lewis was catching him with uppercuts. Wlad doesn't have any. He'll find reaching out to hold him as he's slipping and side winding his way in will back fire on him. Evander would be one of the best examples of a guy who would expose all of Wlads faults and weaknesses.
Vander was almost stopped by Bert frickin Cooper. Wlad would separate him from his senses. Holyfield wouldn't be able to take that type of punishment for a full 12 rounds.
Let me get this straight:huh Jennings, the guy who people said had flashes of Holyfield in him goes 12 rounds taking no punishment but the real Evander get stopped?? Wlad had Chamber hurt in the second round and couldn't finish him off till the end of the 12th. And that was mostly due to Chambers being reckt from Wlad pushing down on his small body all night. Chambers was nothing in comparison to Holyfield. Holyfield rips him to the body in ways you don't see anymore and catches him with quick fire counters. He gets stopped much like Buster Douglas was.
Holyfield is great, but he's great because he was essentially a cruiserweight that went up in weight and used his skill to hang with the big boys. However, in Klitschko he is facing possibly the most technically complete fighter he would have faced, at a 30 pound weight disadvantage. Not 30 pounds of flab, but 30 lb of conditioned muscle. I just don't see him climbing this particular hill. I think that Klitschko puts him on the end of his jab and hook, and keeps him there, while doing the octopus drill on him if Evander tries to bring it inside. Holyfield may manage to shine in a few moments, but I see mainly a long grind to a UD points defeat. Holy has a great resume, sure, but his resume is also littered with defeats to lesser fighters than Wladimir.
Excellent post. I personally think Evander would have an good chance of beating Vlad but equally your a.nalysis could well turn out to be accurate. Klitschko is a very good boxer who fights to his strengths and has learnt how to negate his opponents . A peak Holyfield would have to fight smart as he did with Bowe in his second fight to beat someone of Wlad's calibre.
My point is that how can I guy be called inconsistent when he went undefeated for 8 years (winning a world title in just his 12th pro fight vs. a Hall of Famer), didn't lose a fight until he was 30, and during this stretch won 10 World title fights in 2 weight divisions (Undisputed Champ in both). Holyfield also beat more Lineal HW Champs than any other fighter (7)... something I've never heard mentioned by anyone, but it's true. He beat Douglas, Foreman, Holmes, Bowe, Moorer, Tyson x2, and Rahman... he even drew with Lewis. Joe Louis beat 6... Schmeling, Sharkey, Carnera, Baer, Braddock, and Walcott x2. I like both Klitschko's, and it's not their fault that they fought during a time when HW boxing pretty much sucked... but the point is they didn't beat guys like Bowe, Tyson, Moorer, or even older versions of Foreman and Holmes. V.K. fought a fat Lewis and was stopped... a 137 year old Holyfield lost a close decision to a prime Lewis that could have went either way (their rematch).
And why would you think that? Who has he ever kept at the end of his jab. He couldn't out-box Povetkin or keep him on the outside , so what version of Wlad is going to do it against Holyfield? And what about when he got batted around the ring and had to run for his life against turtle footed Peter. He couldn't out-box the slow unskilled oaf Peter so what Wlad are you talking about because its not the one from the real world.
