Valera holds, and Kashtanov immediately does it again, sending Valera like a discus. Impressively, Valera is able to land catlike on all fours. More holding by Valera. Kashtanov has loose tape on his glove. Time out to fix it. Time in. Valera is caught by a jab on the nose and takes a plunging right hand on the backside as he turns into the punch with his arms down. Valera is swiping out with a left hook and high right hand from outside, too far. Kashtanov is walking him down and clanging his skull with big rights. Valera keeps well clear, perhaps realizing he is flirting with a point deduction for holding.

Round 10

Kashtanov is throwing 1-2s at the head, rolling in like a predator. Valera is ducking in place, staying off the ropes as best he can, avoiding having to fall in and hold, not landing many of his drawn-from-the-bottom-of-the-well counters and getting hit with the odd right hand but managing to not get touched more than once in a row often. Kashtanov pushes Valera down to his knees on the inside. Valera's balance is starting to liquefy.

Jab by Kashtanov. Glove tape again. Time in. Kashtanov is jabbing at the mohawk, scrubbing the base of it as Valera squats and tries long body jabs from outside. Valera is staying orthodox, trotting left and whipping up a left hook from the hip. It doesn't reach, but Kashtanov's right hand on the bridge of the nose does. Kashtanov pumps a 1-1-2 as the enthusiastic refrain of "ROSSIYA!" is picked up in the crowd. Valera is pumping himself up, shouting "Whoo!" every time he fires a jab into the air. Kashtanov is chasing with the 1-2, hitting the arms of Valera crossed over his chest. Backfoot left hook by Valera, missing. Clinch by Valera.
