Roy Jones would've killed Ray Leonard at Super Middlweight...Fact!

You can't have an objective debate with him about Roy. I've been trying for over 3 years.

But he knows in his heart that Lennox was afraid of Roy, and that Roy would have taken him out in about 5 rounds.

 

Floyd only had difficulty making weight at 130 lbs. After about 6 years of campaigning in the division, he jumped to LW for weight purposes. After that though, it really has nothing to do with his body filling out. He was already in his mid 20's at that juncture.

At LW, it became quite apparent he wasn't going to land a major fight that he was craving, specifically against Freitas or Casamayor, so he chased after the PPV fights at 140 lbs (specifically Arturo Gatti.) He didn't jump to 140 because he couldn't make 135 anymore, he just left it because at the time the top guys at LW seemingly wanted nothing to do with him and Floyd was a money hungry superstar with a small fanbase that felt underappreciated (which I believe he was.)

Even at 140, the only reason he left that division was to chase the PPV fights at 147 (specifically Judah prior to his loss to Baldomir and DLH.) If those guys weren't around, he could've easily stayed at 140 lbs for several years. In fact, I maintain he's still a JWW that has just been campaigning for the last decade 1 and 2 weight classes where he should be actually fighting.

Going up so many classes has obviously helped his bank account and his overall legacy though, but I wonder what his resume would've looked like had he stayed at LW and JWW for a couple more years. What makes him a highly rated ATG IMO is him being so successful so late in his career while he campaigns in his 4th and 5th weightclass.

 

I like him a lot as a poster though.

He hates Roy, but in an amusing sort of a way, and you can debate with him at times.

He's on another level to the clown that is Young Terror. Could you imagine Rico PRETENDING to be a fan of Roy's?

AS for the OP, I think many people already touched up on it that it wouldn't be too fair of a fight, although Jones did come up from JMW himself. AT the time Leonard fought at 168, he was probably around 60% of what he used to be. He only fought 6 or 7 times above WW so it's hard to compare him H2H against larger guys in higher weight classes.

If it did happen, I'd favor Jones by decision.
