Good post. I amazes me when I see people bashing Floyd and saying how much greater SRL was then him, when these Moron's don't realize that pretty much all of Leonard best wins came in his first 2 weightclasses. Floyd has more career KO's than leonard and he probably would have more if he didn't have to fight above his natural weight for big money fights.

I now understand your point perfectly. But you could have used a better example.

I don't like to see any great fighters bashed. Again, every fighter should be ranked using objective criteria. But I don't think anybody should have an issue with Ray being rated higher.

Unfortunately Floyd just doesn't have the caliber of fighters to face like some of the Greats.....

That's true, but you have to ask whether or not he'd have fought a Duran or Hearns type fighter if he'd have had the opportunity.

Probably Duran, but I don't think Hearns.

The WW division doesn't house the large WW's of yesteryear such as Emile Griffith, Ray RObinson, Charley Burley, Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. Those were very LARGE WW's that had a good amount of success campaigning in higher weight divisions, up to LHW.

My belief with FLoyd is he would've been a dominant champion in any era, but if he fought back in the old school days with the original 8 divisions, I'm under the pretense he would've probably started his career at FW and probably only move up to LW. The guys at WW from about 1940-1965 and than the guys in the late 70's-early 80's were just too big for him.

Duran is an interesting name because like FLoyd, he too started at 130 lbs. SO to me, a H2H matchup with Robbie is open game.

The problem is people want to compare Floyd in H2H matchups with guys that started 4 divisions above him. That's essentially like saying how would Ray Leonard do against a prime Archie Moore at LHW. It makes absolutely no sense.

Now guys like Duran, DLH, Mosley, JCC sr, Pryor, Barney Ross, Packey MCFarland, Benny Leonard, Joe Gans, Sal Sanchez, Pernell Whitaker, Azumah Nelson, Willie Pep and the venerable Henry Armstrong are all guys that started around the same weight class as FLoyd did. IMO, those fights should be spoken about more, not guys who were just much naturally larger than him physically. I'd probably even add Benitez to the list, even though he started a couple divisions above where Floyd did (I believe JWW was Benitez' original weight class.)

You have to ask the same about Jones and his record tells us he wouldn't. Most reluctant fighter of his Generation. Wanted to handpick all his fights and that even backfired on him (Johnson savagely KOing him)

SRL has every advantage over Roy. He fought and beat better fighters he was faster of hand and foot, had more skills and was a huge draw and cash cow. P4P SRL is just so much better than Jones. P4P SRL would knock Jones out.

Did you ever think the present WW JM and Middleweights are a bunch of overrated midgets ? After all the last lot of good Welters DLH and Trinidad were 5 10.5 and 5 11 .

It's weird because most of the divisions have bigger sized fighters fighting in them (compare current day HW's to HW's just 30 or 40 years ago,) but for some reason the WW division does house a lot of smaller sized WW's.

I think a big reason for that is the incorporation of these Junior/Super divisions. Back in the old school days, guys would stay at their weightclass for very long periods of their career if not for its entirety because jumping up one weightclass was considered to be a magnanimous task (about a 15 lb jump.) These days in the WW division, a good amount of the top rated fighters are smaller guys that came up in weight such as Floyd, Pacman, Khan, Bradley, Alexander, Garcia.

The only true WW's that are top rated now are probably Kell Brook and Keith Thurman. Brook is about 5 "9 which is considered to be a pretty good size for a WW in any era (Thurman is a bit shorter I think,) and both men have been campaigning in the division their entire pro careers.

Now on the flipside when you look at a division like LHW or HW, these guys are huge now because they don't have the options really of moving up in weight for the most part.

How many times have we been here?

I love arguing/debating with you, but you are completely biased and ignorant on the subject. It's like talking to a wall.

He wasn't a reluctant fighter and he didn't go around hand picking fights. And I've shown you more than enough evidence to prove it.

He pursued the likes of Liles and Holyfield, and he fought Hopkins x 2, Toney, Tarver x 3, and Calzaghe and Lebedev etc.

That tells me that he'd have fought the greats of the past.

Ray didn't hold every advantage over Roy, and I don't believe he'd have knocked him out.
