To beat Chris Byrd you either had to have a significant reach like Klitschko's or a ton of power like Ibeabuchi or in some cases both. Floyd as neither.
Floyd had skills, hand speed, combination punching, a powerful left hook...more than enough to out point and outwork Byrd :good
Patterson. I don't think Byrd liked handspeed. It was an absolute disaster when he dropped to light heavy.
I hear you, but dropping 35-lbs in weight is probably a recipe for disaster for most 37 year old fighters.
I don't really think he dropped that much. He had to train up for heavy and probably entered the ring for the light heavy fight in the high 180s...so probably more like 10-15 pounds. There's a reason why he skipped cruiser. Still, he was past it although that can't totally explain how lost he looked against George.
They are similar fighters. One is very good and the other is arguably great. Can you guess which is which?
Floyd would never be able to box guys like Golota or Wlad...its a no brainer here...Byrd would have the weight advantage for once and really this would be a a definite size advantage and power for Byrd, speed would not come into play either, add Byrds defense he is the more well rounded fighter, dont know why everyone is hung up on ATG titles that's not a skill.Byrd k.os him midway through.
