I watched the Whitaker vs Ramirez I fight yesterday for the first time.

I came up with a score of 117-113 for Whitaker. Official scores were 118-113 Ramirez, 116-115 Ramirez, 117-113 Whitaker (as well).

I think Whitaker was controlling the fight, landing more shots and landing the cleaner shots. Whitaker was running too much and that cost him a few points on my scorecard but I still think Pea won convincingly.

One of the worst decisions I've ever seen on network TV. There was no doubt in my mind as to who won. All you can say for Ramirez is that he kept coming forward. Pernell boxed his ears off.

Arguably the worst decision of the 90's.

This fight was not a 'bad decision'...

    It was a fix!

It was in everyone's interest but Whitaker's (and his team) for Ramirez to win. A Mexican unification match (at the time) was far better financially for all other parties concerned.

    How Magritte.

Ramirez was on that night. Again, one of the most underrated performances of the decade.

By on you mean... being outboxed all night and shouldn't lost a lopsided decision? If so, I agree

I understand the subtleties he presented were not appreciated by all.

You can't seriously think Ramirez truly won that fight surely??
