His nick-name, "Man of Steel" came about from his upbringing in a steel manufacturing town in Indiana. Have I got that one right?

He was in the Navy for 4 years. He had a girl in every port and each one knew why he was called "Man of Steel".

There was a rumour he took a dive against Graziano in their second fight.

Perhaps, but he shipped a lot of punishment in the first fight. That might have contributed to him hitting the deck.

I don't believe that at all, in fact it is as silly as Klomptons claim that McGoorty threw the first fight against Les Darcy, in fact McGoorty copped an absolute hiding of the highest order going down 4 times in the 15th and I have seen the film, Eddie can't get up, he is knocked out bad. The second Zale Graziano fight was a total war and probably the greatest fight boxing has had in the last 100 years, no one takes that much punishment for a dive, not Zale, not McGoorty not anyone.
