Ciaran Bates will top his first fight bill as boxing returns to the Red Cow on November 6.

The hungry lightweight prospect will be joined on the bill by Shorty Carroll, Gerard ‘Crank’ Whitehouse and four other names to be confirmed over the coming weeks.

It’s just the sixth time Bates trades leather as a pro, but the 29 year old is keen to get into Irish title contention and is hoping for a step up in quality and rounds come November.

The Bates topped bill is the third small hall show to play out in the Red Cow this year with previous cards playing host to wins for the likes of Tommy McCarthy, Phil Sutcliffe Jr, Craig O’Brien and Steve Collins jr.

    The two boys you mentioned.

Who of Saunders' opponents were at their level?

You mean Quillin and Korobov? Ok lets examine that.

Quillin by the time he fought Andy was a physical and mental wreck, couldnt even make weight.
Korobov has achieved literally zero as a pro, - a complete non entity.

CEJ or Spike were better wins by BJS.

(And lets not even get into how Andy struggled with Quillin and Korobov, whereas Billy Joe hosed CEJ and Spike)

Eubank or Spike? You have a massive chip on your shoulder, dont ye!
What about Billy Joe goin a bright pink and blowing hard giving away half of the fight and nearly giving away the fight all together against Eubank?

Billy Joe hasn't been tested outside of European level and found it tough goin against Eubank, who himself fought f.uckin nobody.

He hasn't been where Lee has been.

You never gave Lee a chance in any of his fights. You pick him to lose everytime. Just like with this fight, you're picking him to lose again? You're full of s.hite.

Its a fight Puca - a guy always has a chance. Nobody would ever say Andy has NO chance, unless it was GGG for example.
For the record I expected Andy to beat the likes of Horta and Fitzy handily. I said he could well lose to Quillin and possibly lose to Korobov.

I dont pick against him ALL the time. :huh

Im going out on a limb picking BJS to beat him cos if Billy is to win he will have to do it on pure ability alone. He scores badly in almost every other area of boxing - size, power, discipline, seasoning etc. I dont think theres another poster on here who is picking Billy Joe. So I guess that means if Billy wins I can call myself a bit of a boxing expert as you say!!

    Corection Fra..that wasnt the RA...that was P. O'Neill, remember...
Does this mean you are conceding that Andy will need to be lucky to win? That he needs a 'Hail Mary' to land again?
That he isnt good enought to outbox Billy Joe?
