Please enjoy these action packed highlights of one of the greatest aboriginal boxers ever, Ron Richards, he was a great counter puncher with massive power and very tough and durable. Here he fights Gus Lesnevitch before Gus was champ,

and against the great Archie Moore in their second meeting

and Fred Hennebury, for the Empire Middleweight Title

Archie improved a lot as a fighter over the next 10-15 years

Here in 1940 he looks wild reckless and his balance is poor

His foot speed handspeed and upper body movement looks good here He really cleaned himself up over the next 15 years

Archie still beat Richards twice already proving that early in his career his chin was great, if a guy had a average chin fighting Richards he wouldn't last long

Yes Archie was still a very good middleweight I def would have favored him to beat Tony Zale in 1940

hell I would favour Ron Richards to beat Zale, Richards just never had the chances to fight in America

. Of course Moore is good, what would you expect. I also just found a very rare fight of Jerry Jerome in 1915... wierdest fighting style I ever saw in the ring but saw aboriginals fight that him on the street.

Lol yeah I was thinking that too, after all this thread is about Ron Richards... y'know in the first Moore fight Archie went to the canvas from the very first punch Richards ever hit him with, Archie was shocked but came back really well to win but it was a hard close fight. Richards was a great puncher, I imagine he knocked Archie down witha right as that was Richards best weapon

Burt, I posted some footage there is of Carroll vs Leto in a thread I made at Checkhook a while ago, and there was some of Carroll vs Tommy Jones too, (well, it was unlisted who Carrolls opponent was but im sure its Jones) Worth a look to bring back memories of those sparring sessions
