I'm well aware of Cotto's achievements, I don't remember suggesting he hasn't had any fights before Martinez, the pertinent fact is Golovkin should already have had his shot and be holding all of the belts because he would have knocked Martinez out in 2 rounds in that condition, Cotto didn't earn his shot at that belt and he hasn't earned the respect of the fans since acquiring the belt either.

We are discussing the middleweight belt being held hostage away from the rightful guy, not what Cotto has done before Rodriquez.

Cotto is drawing more attention to the middle belt than ever, making it more valuable. That is literally the exact of opposite of holding something hostage, which prevents something from progressing. Besides, if Golovkin wanted it that bad, he wouldn't accept step aside money. Get it through your heads people, Golovkin no different than anyone else.

I never have liked the idea for titles being on the line at a catch weight... If you are the 160 lb champ, fight at 160.

No, holding hostage means you're preventing the rightful current owners, or future owners from posession, and then demanding money/goods and or privileges for it.
He effectively removed the belt from contention by the 160 top, like Floydweather did with the 154 belt.

He didn't hold anything from Golovkin, he had his mando opportunity and Golovkin agreed to accept step aside money and get his opportunity later. I'm not sure why people would complain when not even G is complaining, he is loving all of this. He's got fans supporting his decision to stay in a weak division, they don't ask him to challenge himself, he gets free step aside money, he gets paid well for the stiffs he fights..I mean really, what's not to like, he's gotta be loving life, you see the constant smiling, you guys should be more like him.

The fact of the matter is, Alvarez is more deserving of a Cotto fight than is the Triple Duck. Alvarez has beaten better opposition and brings more money to the table..

GGG is getting Cotto-Canelo step aside money, headlining his own PPV and guaranteed a WBC belt after his next fight.

    Life is good :thumbsup

I'll use the same example Berto is Thurmans mandatory would you be mad at Thurman fighting Brook over Berto?
And if Alvarez wins it depends on who he fight's.

Fighting at the cw I understand that criticism. As far as opponents GGG's resume isn't much better than Quillins. 2/3 of Cotto's MW opponents would have better résumés than GGG.

How did Martinez duck GGG? When Golovkins name was first brought up Martinez was sidelined with an injury. When he was healthy he plan was a big money fight vs Cotto then beating GGG he just so happen to lose to Cotto. No legitimate top fighter is really ducking GGG that is just a good promo tool.

Bro I'm no Cotto fan just calling a spade a spade Cotto should he beat Alvarez will have the best resume at MW that isn't holding anything hostages. Cotto has beaten the same # of top 5 MW as GGG. Is GGG holding the belt hostages.

Nobody gives a **** about a mandatory unless you have rooting interest. In 2 MW defenses he tested the weight vs GGG's best win and is now involved in the biggest bout in boxing vs a better more accomplished fighter that isn't ducking.
