Why would beating Alvarez give him the best resume at MW? Alvarez isn't a MW and this fight isn't for a MW title.

At way different times and in different situations. You can't tell me the Geale that fought Cotto was the same Geale that fought Golovkin. Roach even said it in an interview recently... he said that Cotto WANTED Geale because of a) the catchweight b) because he was a destroyed fighter after Golovkin.

    ROACH SAID THAT.

In what ... no.. why would you even think that?

GGG is the champ in my opinion.. He is actually fighting at the weight.

Well Alvarez is a better more accomplished fighter a win over him currently is worth more than a win over GGG. If Kovalev beat Ward is it not a good win because Ward is at 68 or Inoue over Gonzalaz?

Geale wasn't **** when either GGG or Cotto fought him as he's not truly an elite fighter. But In 3 fight's Cotto has beaten the same number of top MW's you can argue circumstances or what ever.

Also when the fight was signed I'm pretty sure you and most other GGG stans said Geale is a real top MW cw or not Cotto couldn't beat him like GGG did.

Cotto isn't holding anything hostage. He's merely playing by the rules the WBC makes up as they go along.

Cotto refuses to fight Triple G when he is the mandatory.

If he beats Canelo(which he won't), he'll vacate the tittle because he is a coward.

Also he fights Geale at a catchweight right after Triple G destroys him and stutters when asked about Triple G by Kellerman. BTW Murray was Triple G's best win.

That sure seems to happen a lot in boxing :conf

Personally I am not too concerned about the Cotto situation anymore, we may as well wait and see the results of the 3 upcoming 160lb title fights before worrying about who will fight who.

Honestly I'm not too worried about the WBC pulling any more strings though, they only do that to shaft relatively unpopular guys with smaller promoters like Martinez, not HBO darlings like GGG or GBP fighters like DL. BJS/Lee winner fighting GGG/DL winner is also possible and honestly not a bad outcome either.

Wtf are you talking about? GGG is not just the best man at the MW, he was chasing Martinez until Cotto used his star power to bypass him, then won an eliminator to fight for WBC belt, then got their useless interim belt, and Cotto is still ducking him.

He needs to either take his ass back to 154 if he wants to fight 154 guys, or man up and face his mandatory.

Things are working out the way they should. It only would've been holding the belt hostage if a Canelo fight fell through and he still wouldn't give GGG the time of day. Once that fight came off, I stopped ragging on Cotto.

I'll never fault a fighter for making a superfight in this sport. It's a rare opportunity you have to take.

In the meantime, GGG is mandatory to the winner and gets a PPV fight to start taking his name to the next level.

So far, it's a win/win for everyone. I think Canelo and GGG win, and that fight will be huge.

Cotto hasn't even fought a middleweight yet.All his fights including Martinez were at a catchweight. How can Cotto be considered W.B.C champion or lineal middle weight champion when Martinez was not a middleweight at the time If Klitschko fought Mayweather at a 240 pound catchweight, would Wlad be considered the lineal welterweight champion if he won.

You said Cotto's MW resume. I disagreed with your statement that Cotto's MW resume is better than Golovkin's.

    Well, I am arguing circumstances.

No. I said Geale looked like a skeleton at weigh-in and was going to fold like a lawn chair in the first round.

The WBC doesn't/hasn't care(d) about him facing his mandatory. So why should Cotto?

WBC holds unifications over mandatories, and that is Golovkin's focus right now- unifications. Reason why he's fighting Lemieux.

GGG/Cotto is a unification of the MW division and a fight between the WBC Interim and WBC champion. It's also one of the biggest fights in the sport right now. So... yeah, that's why Cotto should care.
