Considering Tyson's best wins up to that point were shot Holmes and Light Heavyweight Spinks yes there are tons of Heavyweights that would either UD him, KO him, or make him quit. Tyson was a mental midget who was at the right place at the right time so he could fight all of those lost generation 80's Heavyweights who were drug addicts and alcoholics. He was never going to beat Holyfield. Ever. They could fight 100 times and Holyfield would win every single one.
According to the reports at the time, like the one I've already shown you, he didn't have a fracture. He had a costochondral separation, which is where the rib is torn lose from the cartledge. It's known as a soft tissue injury. Also, neither the Duva's or his manager Shelly Finkel, had an issue with the doctor's diagnosis. Larry Holmes was faded and he'd been in active. But it was still impressive how Mike took him out. Nobody else ever did that to him, and he went on to give a good account of himself against Evander, after he'd beaten Ray Mercer. So he wasn't completely shot when he fought Mike. Why have you referred to Spinks as a LHW, when he was a HW? He'd established himself as a very good HW after beating an undefeated Holmes, as well as taking out Gerry C*oney. Who are the ton of HW's who would have beaten Mike in the mid 80's, if he'd have been mentally and physically at 100%, and fighting to his full capabilities?
Yes, but you also seem to forget. He did it to fight Holyfield for more money. The tune of $35m. But lets just sweep that under the carpet shall we.
How the hell did he back out of a Holyfield fight? He was scheduled to fight him late in 91 but he was locked up for ****. If anything it was Holyfield who didn't fight Tyson.
People seem to forget that. Tyson Holyfield was in the works, all he had to do was get rid of Douglas. Once Douglas got the belts,he didn't bother giving Tyson a rematch, same with Holyfield, who got the belts and then opted to face other guys instead of Tyson. Tyson beat Ruddock around the same time Holyfield beat Foreman, then the fight was signed, they even did a press conference for it.
Funny because Lewis and Bowe also fought those same guys and didn't always look too impressive. And that old Larry Holmes beat the **** out of Ray Mercer.
Quit? Disprove me then. Otherwise...off you go and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Tyson fought Holyfield and made more money than he ever would have got for Lewis in 96.
Eliades confirms: "We have turned down Showtime's offer because we'd prefer to put on the fight ourselves. We can pay Tyson 45 million dollars.
