Could Lewis beat Vitali without cuts?

That's not really a legit point...Lewis was clowning around when Rhaman k.od him and you also negate the fact Lewis was without Steward when McCall knocked him out..."Manny was actually McCalls trainer for that fight"..!Vitali fought a much better version of Lewis than than at the time McCall/Rhaman k.od him.

Commentators get things wrong, especially Foreman who was never the most objective pundit. He kept on going about how Lewis' extra weight was going to fatigue Vitali in the clinches until another commentator pointed out Lewis was only a little heavier than Vitali or when Foreman said BHop was tiring mid way in his fight with Tito when it was clear he was not.

You have clearly a very askew view of that moment in the fight. When they clinched all the way across the ring in the 6th it was because Lewis caught Vitali with a right hook to the temple on the way in, Vitali was holding on to Lewis to stay upright, he was hurt, it's why he was bent over pushing Lewis back as Lewis tried to back off and let Vitali fall. Had Lewis been able to break the clinch Vitali may have been dropped.

The commentators were all so focused on Lewis' tiredness because he was overweight and ignoring the fact that Vitali was struggling as well with the pace, both men were tired. Though I will admit Lewis was likely the more tired of the 2.

 

I'd agree Vitali fought a better version of Lewis than McCall and Rahman in the first fight. He was flawed and a little green when he fought McCall despite being in his physical prime and he was in terrible shape for the first fight with Rahman, mentally not prepared, not focused on the task at hand and the altitude would have compromised his ability to take a punch, even the iron jawed Hopkins was dropped repeatedly when forced to fight at high altitude on short notice in his fight with Mercado.

Though I do think McCall and Rahman hit harder. Vitali did have power back then but not the kind of one shot power those 2 had. Vitali hit Lewis flush repeatedly and while he was able to hurt him early on, as the fight progressed it seemed Lewis was better able to absorb Vitali's power. If Vitali was to ever stop Lewis, one big punch was never going to do it, it would have taken a gradual beat down to eventually force Lewis out of the fight.

I also don't think Lewis had the power to take Vitali out with one shot either despite Lewis vaunted power, that single right uppercut proved that. Any fight between Lewis and Vitali would have been a battle of attrition and not some single shot blow out.

 

Can you actually get ANYTHING right, or do you just make up whatever comes into your feeble mind and go with it?

Lewis was not clowning around in the ring when Rahman KO'd him. Rather he had been clowning around in Las Vegas with other fools like you that call themselves " celebridies " filming a stupid film with Vlad Klitchko, amongst others, as opposed to training. Which is why he didn't even arrive in South Africa until 12 days before the fight. He acted like an arrogant c **k, thinking all he had to do was turn up in any old shape, hit the guy and it would be all over.

Out of interest how many posters still watch fight with the commentary running? I gave that up years ago, particularly when it is Murican commentators, as they tend to make the event about themselves instead of the fighters.

I have noticed unclean quote the commentary a lot to back up his opinions, but only subjectively. If a commentator says anything about the fighter he isn't trying to convince you is superman he ignores that part, as he did in the Ali / Mildenberger fight.

I just wondered how many posters were still so new to the game that they need the commentary to give them some kind of clue as to what is happening.

I mean you don't hear the fools if you attend the fights, now do you?

What blows my mind is how each of the commentators missed is rather important development in the fight. Hard to believe.
