Strategically the move from Sky to snap up the Sauerland events has hurt Boxnation and to a lesser extent Channel 5. Boxnation needs content that is broadcast before midnight. The domestic action just isn't happening enough currently. Canelo/Cotto is a great fight on paper and I'm shocked that there is no interest from Sky.
Very few are interested in watching fights at 4am. Boxnation need to fill either Friday and Saturday nights with boxing between 8pm-11pm on a weekly basis.
Eddie Hearn's build up of mismatches Campbell v Coyle, Joshua v Whyte or boring Bellew v Clev fights hacks me off as well. Sky used to show some great 50/50 fights such as Moore v Macklin and now we get Eddie bumming up fights as 50/50 fights when we already know these are really 90/10. Next week we have 2 undefeated fighters AJ v Cornish Wafer and this is a 100/0 fight.
It's irrelevant to me if Sauerland cards are on sky or BN as I have both but personally I don't think missing out on Abraham v Steglitz part 15 type events are a big deal for BN. In regards BC times sky plus and similar devices makes this irrelevant. I don't bother staying up for most events these days I just record the thing and watch it on Sunday nothing/afternoon It's the competition for major international fights from sky/BT which is what could hurt the station.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/bo...bout-following-pulled-12M-bid-Box-Nation.html Can't be that bad off
"Boente questioned whether Box Nation would have gone to £12m if the purse bids had been called, saying: Our feeling is that may have been a paper number but we would have been to accept such an offer." Boente knows the truth.
A bit perhaps. But it isn't that bad, considering Kessler has retired and Povetkin and Marco Huck have both left Sauerland. I doubt anyone cares about Brahmer unless it's a British fighter getting a shot at his lesser world title. I do like Abraham but that's about it from their stable.
A couple of Buglioni's recent fights have been good imo. And actually, even Skeete is better to watch than he used to be. If they step him up it could be half way interesting to see what happens. And anyway, BoxNation have got world title shots (whether or not full proper title) to a number of fighters: Paul butler (twice), Chris Eubank Jr., Derry Matthews, Terry Flanagan, and coming up Buglioni, Liam Smith and Billy Joe Saunders. I'm not saying it couldn't be better, but they are doing something for British boxing. As for whether BoxNation makes any money... well if they don't, then they are subsidizing British boxers and the fans that want to watch international fights. You can hardly complain about them helping the fighters and fans like that without even making a profit! Oh hang on, around here we can moan endlessly about it...
Wrong! FW refused to deal with Sauerland because they took Groves to SKY. Sauerland were in limbo when they teamed up with Eddie.
Do the 3/4am cards actually bother anyone else? I mean, they're repeated and most people have recording options available. I personally quite like my Sunday mornings starting with the recording of a late card and then settle in for Super Sunday
The ends justify the means? Stealing from some fighters is acceptable, because it benefits others? Interesting logic.
