Briggs needs to legitimately earn a title shot by fighting (and winning against) a couple of top 10 guys. Honestly, if Wilder were to face him now, it wouldn't do his resume ANY favors whatsoever -- and people are already skeptical of Wilder's opposition as it is.

If Briggs actually earns his shot, then it becomes a different story... but he won't.

    :hey

Morrone is garbage but if he can survive the Briggs early
Bum-Rush and takes Briggs into the later rounds at least
we'll see if Briggs gasses out and implodes!!

Likely Marrone Will be looking for a soft spot on the canvas
before the first bell rings!! :yep

    :hey

Briggs is self-promoting himself for fights, he looks in pretty good shape for his age, and wants a title shot - can anyone blame him?

Nice to see some modicum of excitement in the heavyweight scene instead of the current charade of Soviet-esque stoic posturing.

Yes we can blame him. If he wants a shot he should earn one.

Wlad is a great champ who has already had 18 title defenses. He has on deck an undefeated fighter who has earned a shot in Fury, a title unification with Wilder, a mandatory in Glazkov, and a rematch with consensus #2 Povetkin. He doesn't have time for this idiot.

If this broke clown wants a shot, then get in the ring with a top ten guy and earn one.

Do you actually believe boxing rankings earns title fights?

Hypothetically Briggs could kill everyone in the top 5 and beat them again for lolz and Wlad can still choose not to fight him, there is no such thing as mandatory fights in practice.

The challenger must also bid for a shot, guaranteeing a purse to the champion win or lose, I guess Shannon doesn't quite have the finance of the big promoters to be of any interest to Wlad.

So that leaves Briggs with the remaining option of publicly goading Wlad into fighting him, to play on, to expose the public perception of an ex-soviet national fighter who only fights in Europa, against hand picked opponents who have no sporting credentials, this will play on the mind of a 'world champion' but he may simply ignore it and continue fighting Euro-bloc fighters until retirement.

    Don't do that champ

He calls Wlad the champ constantly yet insists he's the champ, I guess if you're not a champ in Shannon's head you're a chump.

Unfortunately wasn't Briggs so tough when he chased Wlad with the boat. First time ever when Wlad was angry and told him he crossed the line and has to get over here, he would have kicked his ass. Briggs drove away with full speed.

I am sure we will see Briggs in Düsseldorf as well, I might challenge him for my first pro fight and knock this bum out. Can't pay him much though. I would still be his toughest opponent since Vitali.
