    :good

Good comparison. '99 Pea was no further gone than '15 Pac, in all honesty.

Of course, '99 Tito was smack dab in the apex of his prime while '15 Mayweather isn't.

He should've, and would've if he weren't such a big fat dummy.

Funny that someone mentioned showboating costing Whitaker the decision in a close match with DLH. Sort of a karmic balancing-out with Tito vs. DLH going the way it did. (with Oscar making as big a faux pas with the judges as Pernell did)

he wasnt shot but wasnt close to being near his best.
not to mention he was a 35 year old little guy at 5 foot 6 fighting a 5 foot 11 rangy solid young welterweight. Whitaker was unbeatable at his natural weight of 135-140....

The Pernell that Oscar beat was still prime but lost a small step, which is what Roy Jones said when asked if pernell was still prime during the fight. Roy was friends with Pernell. Also, Pernell was STILL ranked P4P #1 in the world at that moment when oscar beat him, thus the reason that fight was billed "Pound for Pound" and why oscar became P4P #1.
The Pernell Trinidad beat wasn't the same, he was a few bigger steps from prime, not to mention not as motivated and dealing with coke problems if memory serves.

haha Oscar wasn't showboating though. he made a tactical decision to run away with the fight lol not realizing the judges had tito winning a decision before the fight even started.

I think you're mistaking Oscar for Hopkins. Trinidad was simply better than Oscar DLH which is why he ducked the rematch for years.

Trinidad Dlh was the worst psychological schooling I've ever witnessed in the ring. Trinidads chunky left hooks had an adverse effect on DLH. He was never the same after, he got Tito'd just like Whitaker, Camacho, Vargas, Mayorga and Reid.

That wasn't show boating. That was a man psychologically and physically scarred. Those weare Oscar's last moments at the top, and he knew it. Trinidad simply hit too HARD for Oscar to deal with, the judges knew and saw this which is why Tito got the win.

    Did I say he was?

He was still a formidable welterweight and had ruled the division for much of the decade until not really that long before he fought Tito.

Even with the layoff, and the cocaine, and being the smaller, older, more shopworn man - Pea is still a very good win for Tito (deserving mention within his top five, I'd say, though you never see it rated that highly), especially to have nigh dominated him as he did, with a much greater flourish than DLH had managed a relatively short time earlier.

The gap between the DLH version of Pea & Tito version of Pea is extremely narrow compared with the gap between the latter and the ruined version that Bojorquez fought.

I didn't say he showboated. I said, like Pea, he made a faux pas with the judges. (except his was allowing the perception that he was "running", whereas Pea's was being a clown. Judges are typically find both practices equally distasteful)

Uh-huh. So you've read the opinions of others and circumstantial things, but when's the last time (if ever) you actually watched the contest? I posted it in the OP, as I'm guessing it has been a while.
