Do you think Mayweather would still have been the number one leader in pay per view sales? Or make the same choices he made?

I don't think he gets as big without that fight. But he still would have done decently. He was smart and he sold the world a character. WWE style. The same however can be said of Pacquiao. DLH if you think about it, really jump started both of their ppv success.

Impossible to say.but i Lean towards that without ODLH,Floyd wouldn't have become so big.ODLH fight really made Floyd a PPV star in one night.without ODLH it would have take more time.but maybe could come even bigger.because we don't know what career path Floyd would have instead.

Things would definitely have been different. Oscar made people stars. Look at the popularity and money making ability of the fighters that beat Oscar. They were not nearly as popular or rich as they were after beating him. Also the Oscar fight was the whole reason Floyd left Top Rank. Would he still be with Top Rank if he knew Oscar wouldn't fight him? While with Top Rank who would uncle bob make him or let him fight?? Might Floyd have bought out his contract later??? Or say he does buy out his contract after the Judah fight, but dies not get the De La Hoya fight, what then???? Whom does he fight????? A lot if questions. Who knows...

How come other fighter's careers never turned out like Mayweather's. See Bernard Hopkins.

Cuz he lost twice in a row shortly after. But he was unknown by casuals before the Trinidad fight. That fight upped his profile and the De La Hoya fight gave him real momentum to become a huge star, but lost twice. Same thing kind of happened to Mosley. He had momentum that he lost to after his two defeats to Forrest. Then he couldn't capitalize on his second Oscar victory because of his back to back losses to Wright. They needed to keep winning high profile fights, which they failed to do.

That fight definitely elevated his status immensely but he would have elevated it himself, just not nearly as quickly, and possibly he wouldn't have been where he's at today. He should be thanking Oscar every day of his life, meanwhile all he does is trash him, when everyone knows Oscar was a great part of who Floyd has become fame wise.

oscar was probably the most important boxer of the 90s and 2000s when you look at his PPV numbers

after tyson there was a lul and oscar saved boxing

plus gave legitmacy to its next 2 great stars floyd and manny

manny took the baton and ran with it

floyd fought nobody in their prime

  10. Honestly, Manny and Floyd have been carrying each other PPV wise since 2010. Whenever one would fight the same question is asked at the end of each bout.
Both guys PPV started to lag in 2014, which both companies repping each fighter frowned upon. Fight happens, sellout event across te board, now both will fight once and retire.

    "GAME OVER"

  11. Hopkins hate Floyds success more than anybody alive. He always believed that he should be the top guy in boxing, fan wise, but his star never rose.
He was too old to cross over to the youth.
But not every fighter who beat Oscar become stars. You company has to know how to sell you. It's exactly like the old Gladiator fights. You have to have a star to sell to get people to buy.

Manny took the drugs and ran with them, Floyd just kept on winning and is still winning. Oscar was just a stepping stone and he knew it. Mayweather forced the fight. Oscar didn't want none. Mayweather is the master of his own destiny and don't owe Oscar shiit because he was just as important to Oscar as Oscar was to him. All Oscar had to do was win but he couldn't do it.

Hopkins problem was he didn't have the charisma or business acumen that Floyd had. People always make fun of him sighting his struggling with reading, but fail to see that the guy's marketing intelligence is Doctorate level. Floyd's skills were also superior.

Just fighting Oscar didn't elevate Mayweather, beating him did and Oscar wasn't trying to lose. He had just as much to gain by winning as Mayweather did. Floyd don't owe him nothing. Mayweather forced that fight because he is the master of his own destiny. Oscar was just a stepping stone and every fight after that. Winning is what got him to where he is today and he appreciates himself everyday. However there are people that he needs and do thank. At the top is Al Haymon because Al has guided him through the major part of his career.
