And cutting off the ring is key, especially for Pac against Mayweather. Pacquiao's arms are considerably shorter than Mayweathers were, and since Pac wasn't known for jabbing his way in, the only way to connect was to do his patented jump in. That's bad for 2 reasons if he hasn't shortened Mayweathers escape route. With Mayweathers reach he could be well out of Pac's reach yet still be in reach to connect, and Pac's jump in would be far enough that he would be off balance, setting up Mayweathers counter right hand. Over and over, or 2. The jump is far enough away that Mayweather has plenty of time to react and escape out either the side or back door while making Pac eat a check hook for his efforts. The ability to cut of the ring is also key in the scoring factor of ring generalship. If you are the aggressive fighter and you are merely following your opponent and can't restrict his movement you are being ineffective, score for your opponent.
You guys just don't get it, the fight would've ended the same exact way. The best chance Pacquiao would've had vs. Floyd would've been the raw, still barbarian FW, JLW Pacquiao. That fighter Floyd would've had a harder time anticipating what Pac would do. But then Pac would've had to contend with 130 Floyd, who was a physical powerhouse that threw insane combinations and was at the height of his physical prowess. No matter what Pac vs. Floyd are put up against each other, the outcome is the same.
He was very confident in fact he even tried to make the fight. The only Top Rank fighter he fought since leaving that promotion. It worked well for Bob Arum they got to duck Floyd and have the general Floyd hating public blame Floyd. When the fight happened Manny lost like everyone always knew he would but now they have better excuses about Floyd waiting (like he himself doesn't age). Master PR move by Bob Arum. Don't believe me? What other Top Rank fighters did Floyd fight?? I kind of understand him. At times I have to work through my pettiness just like he does for Arum. But pettiness is not fear or lack of confidence.

Yes,I put that in to end any debates about catch weights before they started. As well as the fact Hatton was liberal king at 140 at the time. They were all smaller writers at the time so I just put 140-147.I wish we could have had them all fight each other in that time frame. Would be epic.
That's not true. His punch output usually drops when fighting guys who exchange. He use to take advantage of inactive fighters, and wet all know Floyd had the tendency to shell up when being attacked. That wad the wrong gameplan for that Pac. However he did slow tremendously after the Margarito fight, he took a lot of punishment from a big man. Even in winning big,I think he realized his limitations

Jmm is a great fighter, but that's his victory, not Floyd's.Jmm had the chin and cojones to walk through fire..There was plenty times Pac had a great chance to beat Floyd, and possibly just overwhelm him on the right night..
You're new to watching Pac fight. Aren't you. You seemed to have based his entire career on what he did against Margarito and Clottey. And you would even be wrong there, as Margarito was a fighter who exchanged and Pac threw over 1000 punches. When in fact, Pacquiao's punch avg per fight is probably far closer to 600-700 than 1000. I mean no disrespect my friend, but your assessment is baseless.
