spinks over Ali. Nobody thought a guy with 7 fights would be beating Ali. And the way scoring for his bouts was, Leon would have to win 10 or 11 rounds clearly to get the nod. Not as if big money was behind the Leon Spinks machine either. And nobody out there thought Spinks had any chance whatsoever of ko'ing the guy.

So here's a guy w/ a 10 round draw against Ledoux--in his biggest threat and live body--fighting the champ in a 15 rounder. But he did it. And deserved it.

Randy Turpin over Sugar Ray Robinson. The greatest boxer on the planet who hadn't lost a fight in years against an unheralded regional fighter. Nope, no chance.

It depends if we are using hindsight or not. With hindsight probably Spinks/AliI; without hindsight the two that come to mind are Sullivan/Corbett and Forrest/MosleyI.

I am surprised De La Hoya/Manny is on the list, but not Robinson/TurpinI.

This is the fight that came to mind for me right away.
The biggest upset ever? Dunno, but it must be up there.

Tarver's KO over Jones shocked me too .

In hindsight Ali v Liston isn't that big, but at the time it was huge.

good one. Nobody thought Randall would last 12 rounds, let alone win

He was something like a 16-1 underdog.

One of the best moments in all the years I've watched boxing.

A guy who the hardcore fans knew had great ability, but had some rocky moments and bad luck, beat a guy who, while a great champion, had all the advantages of good management and political connections.

Even I didn't think Randall could win but I was really pulling for him that day.

Nobody thought they'd see Chavez get knocked down or that anyone could trade with him and come out on top.
