Who would win between the welterweight versions of Mayweather and Tito

 

The two that aren't happening are Mayweather winning by TKO and Trinidad winning on points.

As for the other two outcomes, it's hard to say. Mayweather's a better boxer, but Tito has far more pop in his punches, and I've never been totally convinced that Mayweather's chin is as good as many say it is. I just don't think he gets hit often enough to know one way or another.

But SSM definitely had him hurt, and I could envision Tito doing the same and more. But Floyd could possibly give him a boxing lesson.

Money on the line, I'd probably pick Floyd to win by decision.

I think it would look more like Trinidad - Whitaker with Floyd using all his guile to not get stopped in a fight where Floyd's unwillingness to trade causes him to lose on points. Floyd does not have the ability to hurt Tito, so Tito would be relentless. If Tito catches Floyd clean, he could stop him. But, I think Floyd would do everything he could to keep out of harms way. However, this would come at the expense of him landing even less than usual. This is a prime 147 Tito, I am talking about. Not the over the hill Tito that lost to Winky Wright years later.

 

You'd have to be out of your mind to pick Trinidad in this fight.

 

I have seen almost all of both their fights. And I can assure you that it is possible for Tito to win this fight. I am certainly open to the argument that Floyd outsmarts him. But, only from someone who gives reasonable ****ysis. You, are clearly just a Floyd fan boy, so your opinion carries little weight.

 

Tito is bit over rated if you ask me. He had a great left hook, but wasn't much for defense or mirroring the faster boxers out there. Wright and Hopkins embarrassed Tito / took him to school.

I think Mayweather does the same. Mayweather's sharp jab and perfect counters would force Trinidad to re-set and think too often.

I'm not talking about "possible." I'm talking about actually picking Tito. You'd have to be out of your mind for that.

 

I get its intuitive appeal but I disagree with this comparison. Floyd's a lot closer to Tito in size and reach and has better pocket defense than Sweet Pea, who often took himself out of counter-punching range to avoid getting hit. Definitely a chance that Tito catches and hurts him but I think the odds are that Floyd confuses him and outboxes him for 12 rounds.

 

I agree Tito is somewhat overrated. And Mayweather, as with most active fighters tend to get a bit underrated (comparatively speaking) in these head to head type arguments

 

I disagree Floyd is better in the pocket than pea.
