Is there any way that Floyd Mayweather goes the distance against Thomas Hearns?

Absolutely. He's got the defense and ring smarts to do it. I think he'd lose a decision though unless Hearns got tired and Floyd threw caution to the wind. That's something I've never seen him do at Welterweight.

I don't know if Floyd would ever get into the ring with Tommy in the 1st place. Well, maybe right now. Having written that, this is a fight in which Floyd might make the distance but probably would be in survival all night long.

You've taken the spirit of what a fight means completely out of the question. Crawling up in a shell and surviving for 12 rounds isn't fighting. I don't know what sport it is but it's not boxing the was l grew up understanding it.

But that's part of why you insisting that there was "no f***kin way that Floyd would last the distance with Hearns" was so patently absurd. You should be ashamed of yourself for that one. If you know anything about Floyd Mayweather it should be that he's a safety first fighter with extraordinary defensive skills and reflexes. You should know that he's only even been wobbled or really stunned twice in his career, and even then by two of the fastest-punching men in the sport. Seems like you've stopped really paying attention to boxing a while back. That's cool but why the over-the-top hate against Mayweather? All of this was an indirect way for you to romanticize a different fighter (Benitez) who would have been WAY less formidable of an opponent for Mayweather.

You keep putting word's in my mouth. I have no problem saying that Floyd's a top 20 ATG fighter so how's that hate? Simply because l think he's beatable by other elite fighters?

He'll l even gave him the edge over Tito. So again where's the hate? But no l don't think he beat's Hearn's and l personally don't think he goes the distance. I'm fine with others like you who disagree with this. Trust me none of these discussions puts more money in my pocket so l'm not all that hung up about how polls unfold or how others think.

Why did you ask me to do the poll then? You seemed to be under the illusion that your position was so obvious that I would get laughed out of here.

Pardon my exaggerations--let me retract the "hate" comment. It's more that I think you grossly underestimate him compared to the fighters of your preferred era as if they were immortals and he was just some B fighter.

even if Floyd fought a totally defensive fight it would be tough at 147lbs, Hearns was a freak and you would have to hurt him. Floyd is great defensively but not sure he had the overall ability of Benitez as a boxer. This is not a fight that Floyd could win, I think you need to hurt Hearns to beat him but he may be able to survive but I not sure we ever saw Floyd hurt the way a Hearns could hurt him.

How was Benitez an all-around more able fighter than Mayweather? (Sincere question)

    Because Benitez lost to Leonard.

Sounds about right...It all seems like circular reasoning to me. Nobody seems willing to explain what he actually does better than Leonard, even in the matchup thread.

Hearns had no significant achievements at welterweight.
