Ceire Smith sensationally beat current AIBA World No. 1 flyweight Marlen Esparza of the USA at the Feliks Stamm multi-nations in Poland today.

The Cavan BC ace beat the current AIBA World Elite champion, a bronze medallist at the London 2012 Olympics, on a split decision in Warsaw.

“Ceire employed the tactics we gave her throughout and it was a fantastic performance and win against a world class opponent,” said Irish head coach Billy Walsh.

Esparza beat Smith in the 2014 Feliks Stamm tournament.

“We’re very proud of Ciara and she’s a great kid. That’s a tremendous victory today,” said Brian McKeown, Smith’s coach at the Cavan BC.

Meanwhile, Wayne Kelly will be in action tomorrow in Warsaw. Michael O’Reilly, the current European Games middleweight champion, received a bye into the last-four.

Yeah Donovan is very impressive has beaten some top nations so far, in Kazackhstan, Armenia and Kyrgystan.

Ryan is pure class very hard to hit, he has won all his fights with ease so far.

Purcell and Hyde were unlucky as you said Hyde started very slow and finally got to grips in the 3rd round, great tournament from him though if you consider it was his very first internationals and he made last 8 .

and you have to factor in McKenna got robbed, O'Reilly had a 50-50 tear up with the home favourite who will win gold. We could look back at this in 10 years time and say this was the best junior squad ever

I was impressed with Hyde but I think he would be better suited to 3 minute rounds. 2 minute rounds are wham, bham thank you maam, while hyde likes to think his way into a fight you don't get that time in 2 minute rounds but bags of potential

I'd be fairly confident they would now that they have a stable that includes

    - Spike
    - Ormond
    - Michael McLaughlin (Loads of potential Irish title fights for him)
    - Danny O'Connor (Celtic fanatic, sure to go down well here)

Murphy's also have a good working relationship with Golden Boy so if Quigley has a homecoming before he becomes a superstar, it's possible it would be on a Murphy's card.

Niall Kennedy would also appear I assume, and he is a big ticket seller.

    Collins Jr. too

Dunno about Keeler and Carroll as they are signed to Matchroom.

Hopefully there could be a National Stadium Show early next year

A local kid, younger brother of a friend of mine won gold at the commonwealth youth games. James McGivern, from what I heard he was a skilled little fighter on the amateur circuit but he seems to just keep winning and progressing and passing all the tests, and a tricky southpaw to boot

Don't they have Logan McGuinness too? He made his debut in Ireland.
