It was looked at as an accomplishment when Tubbs made it to the 2nd round... not many people thought he was getting out of the first when his fat ass took his robe off. Tubbs would go on to lose a close questionable decision to Bowe and outbox Bruce Seldon. Pretty impressive thrashing by Tyson when you think about how long Tubbs hung around following this fight. Carl The Truth Williams was considered a very good HW but he wasn't supposed to go more than a few rounds and he didn't even see the 2nd round (93 seconds).

tyson wasnt more popular than ali but he was not far behind. its true there were masses coming out to see him in london. a bit freakish to wtch it on tv.

 

To be fair it would be virtually impossible for any sportsman to match Ali in terms of global recognition he was just a one off at a unique time in history.
Tyson though was immensely well known globally and at first for all the right reasons, he was heavyweight champion of the world and he was demolishing his opponents in
spectacular style.

 

David Haye didn't even get the love Tyson got in Britain, and Haye is British!
