So I have an amateur boxing medical coming up soon and I know that I have weed and other recreational drugs in my system. What I need to know is that can they pick up these drugs from the urine test in the medical. Do you know anyone who has been punished from the test in the medical, or is just solely for medical purposes and they cannot detect drugs with it. I really don't want to get banned before I've even started, I would never forgive myself, I really need help here. And don't worry I've stopped taking them but they will still be in my system by the time the medical comes around. Any advice or knowledge is appreciated, even if you're not from the UK, but if please state what country you're from so there is no confusion as I'm sure different countries follow different procedures. Thanks.
Please help, I'm desperate. If you know anyone that any of you could ask that are involved in UK amateur boxing that know about this subject, I could not be more grateful. (And before anyone says, no I do not take PEDs, I despise the use of them and the recent news about Mayweather has deeply concerned me on the matter)
No one can or should give you any advice on this matter. If you are truly clean, wait for 6 months or how ever long it takes to naturally dispose of what's left in your blood stream and apply again.
Dont know about what drugs will get you banned from am. boxing but I do know or can easily find out blood / urine elimination times and half lives for various recreational drugs. You kinda gotta know what you've taken, how much and when tho, and also when your test is, which you might not be wanting to do on a public forum.
The problem is I'm 17 and have taken these recreational drugs at parties for fun, as you do when you're 17. I've never gone near PEDs, I've never even had a protein shake before haha. I just really needed to know as on the internet some people say the urine test is for medical purposes (Which I think it states on the test) but others say they can pick up drugs on those tests and hand out bans for drugs that could not possibly enhance your performance, only hinder.
You're right tbh, I really should not risk it, I was hoping someone could give me a straight yes or no on the matter so I could decide whether to do it. As I have told my trainers for months I'm desperate to compete and have told them I'm ready for the medical. It would seem a bit strange if I pulled out for a month or two then came back ready for the medical again.
Respectfully disagree. The kid is just asking if his foolishness is going to prevent him pursuing his am. career. He's not asking for ways to cheat the system, just information about what sort of things they test for. TBH his best bet might simply be to ask them.
Maybe I'm being naive but would your trainers not be understanding if you mention that you erm... mighta just had a few tokes, but sincerely regret it and think it'd be better to postpone the test. I know it's a risk but I think that generally people will be sympathetic in this kinda case - sure you might get a bit of a ear bashing, but if you're sincere about stayin drug free it might be the best policy and will probably earn you some respect, believe it or not. We were all young once.
cannabis WILL show up in a drug test. It takes around 6 weeks to clear from the urine (can be longer if you are a prolonged user and smoke it regular) If you want to better your chances drink lots of water (around 4/5 litres a day) this can dramatically reduce the time needed. Do not take this as gospel as every person is different bu its very rare usage and just a few blazes at a party then it is possible to have it clear ur system in 2/3 weeks drinking loads of water. Ironically cannabis takes one of the longest amounts of time to clear ur system.
True, true but I'm still not sure about whether there actually is a test in the medical. It says that there is a urine test to check for medical conditions but It's whether they can pick up that stuff is the question. I'll see if I can get proof they can't pick it up and if I can't, I'll what you said. Thanks for the advice man.
Recreational drugs are on the same WADA prohibited list as everything else, they will get you banned the same as taking steroids will.
