After Joshua destroys Cormish are the AJ fans going to act surprised and impressed?

Yeah, true. I've seen Whyte fight live a few times as well as his TV showings and I just don't see where people are getting the idea he'll beat AJ from. Can only assume they're going by the fight in the AM's which seems a bit ridiculous really

 

I see this as basically the same fight as when Tyson Fury fought the Frank Maloney managed 6'7 Scott Belshaw and destroyed him inside a couple of rounds.

Belshaw was entering the fight with a 10-1 record and 7KOs and a better repuation than Cornish. Fury was leagues above Belshaw.

I expect it to be the same with Joshua vs Cornish. If it goes past 2 rounds then it has not gone to plan for AJ.

The only difference is Fury got this type of fight out of the way when he was 5-0, this is Joshua's 14th opponent.

 

Joshua stops him inside 4, just like Arreola & Grano did.

 

Also reminiscent of Price-Dallas, both undefeated at the time.

 

Joshua is above that level. The experienced journeyman who can take the youngster a few rounds, if not the distance, peaks with Johnson, so if Johnson is not going to be much of a test, Minto will not either.

But Minto is at least a level above anything Whyte has fought, so it will be interesting to see if Whyte can deal with the likes of Minto as easy as Joshua has shown.

I think Dillian is not as fierce a puncher as Joshua, so as long as Minto is in half decent shape it would not surprise me if the Whyte hears the bell for the fifth for the first time. And although thus some will call it a laboured performance, I think it would only improve Whyte, if it happens this way.

 

Its Eddie hearns job to be hyping the **** out of him. If he didn't do this he would be a pretty **** promoter tbh. Sky are in the MAKING MONEY business. The way to make the most money is by getting people to watch them by hyping them up. Joshua is heavy weight gold medalist. So it makes sence to over hype him. He is there golden ticket. Don't get why people have a problem with promoters doing a ****ing great job. Eddie hearn has all the casuals thinking joshua is the messiah without beating anyonebof note. That's ****in brilliant promoting. Its everyone's own choice if they wanna believe the hype or not. I really don't get the problem.

Cornish is a pitifully weak opponent for Joshua.

His team is letting him down here. He needs someone in front of him who can at least take some of his shots and throw back a bit. Otherwise he is going to form an unrealistic view of how easy it is, and end up like other great British hopes in recent memory like David Price and A Farce.

Genuine question: who would be favourite, Tom Dallas or Gary Cornish if they fought tomorrow with full training camps behind them??

Dallas actually has by far the better level of experience vs Price, Skelton & Zak Page (who he beat).

I'd favour Dallas, just, in a pick-em fight.

As predicted the fight was a waste of time. Joshua put Cornish on ***** street inside 1 minute and fight was over in 90 seconds.

His handlers really need to do a lot better.

I saw Whyte fought former world ranked Brian Minto. That was a far better opponent than Gary f*****n Cornish.

His handlers are really letting the lad down here. They are creating another David Price.

 

Your talking rubbish, Minto is a 40 year old, 5,11, cruiserweight ffs! Joshua would have gotten rid of him in 90 seconds too.

Cornish was a level up from Minto.

It is a paradox because Minto probably would have lasted longer than Gary, but Joshua has passed the tests of the tough journeymen, with an A grade after the victory over Johnson being the 'final exam', he now needs to start fighting the men at or near the top of their game who help to show if you are the best.

And that journey began with a man who was bigger than him and unbeaten in 21 fights against some reasonable opposition.
