Who would you pick to win this welterweight war?

The Curry of 84-85 was one of the most talented fighters of the last 30 years.

But, having said that - Napoles wins. He's the 4th best welterweight of all time behind Robinson, Leonard, and Hearns.

Napoles may edge Curry 8-7. Really close fight to call. But cant see Jose going through a Jun Sok Hwang situation.

Napoles could have just as easily ko'ed Curry as McCallum did...real suddenlike, only with the right uppercut. More likely he would deck Curry enroute to a 10-5 15 round decision, Donald Curry was an excellent welter champ, ...exceptional in fact, but Mantequilla was a GREAT welter champ.

Yeah, like 1986 Tyson would massacre 1980 Ali?

Donald's wide Gunfighter Stance.. would get him into trouble here, i suspect, Jose was very quick from boxing mode to Attack mode, and exceedingly accurate with his combinations, Donalds straight punch armoury is usually his Ace up the sleeve, but in Jose he would be facing someone with superlative Cobra'esque head movement, who should be able to slip into close range, Don's imperial conceited upright stance would lend itself to Jose's Cultured left Hooks, If Jose is in that rare aggressive frame of mind that saw him batter Adolph Pruitt, then Don, not i suspect the most Rugged of performers, may find himself shooting distressed glances at his corner by the 7th... Perhaps a Spiteful Jose by the 9th, Don's a great 'On Top' Fighter.. I think that evaporates if he is getting hit hard and often

I honestly think a top form Curry from '85 would have been too much for a great fighter like Napoles, who was prone to cut easily. It would be a wild shoot out with Napoles doing some damage but I think Curry would have eventually cut him up with his excellent timing, much like he did against Colin Jomes. Prime WW Curry was a force when he was at his best but sadly shattered quickly like a stained glass window.
