Canelo is just entering his prime, he is 25 years old and about to peak as an athlete. The Cotto fight, if he wins will be his coming out fight.

I don't see many other elite fighters using the ****nal Canelo uses... He is a student of the sport and I see him imporve with every fight.

I've seen Canelo use the shoulder roll, bob and weave, parry, and uses subtle movements to avoid being hit.... We saw how slick he is against slick fighter Austin Trout who is probably the 2nd or 3rd best JrMW at the moment. He also used great defense and timing against Kirkland, enabling him to counter and punish him. Saul Alvarez has extremely good defense, above average. Saul doesn't get hit very much, that is a nice feat considering his style.

Offensively he is EXPLOSIVE. He uses feints exremely well to set his attack. Using feints is becoming a lost art. He is incredibly accurate, and uses power in the vast majority of his punches. He has a great straight right, great uppercuts and a great left to the liver.

Some of his weaknesses are, perhaps cutting off the ring, it is only evident against RUNNERS like Lara, or even Mayweather.

His Stamina also seems average, which is no knock on him because not everyone is born with Tito or Margarito stamina. But it hasn't been a major problem for him up to now.

Lastly, his height may be concerning because of his weight. He will eventually move to MW and it seems Most fighters at MW are slightly taller with longer reach.

All in all, Canelo is on route to becoming the new face of boxing now that Mayweather has been exposed as a shady character and Pacquiao is well past his best days.

Floyd didn't run against Canelo. It's called smart boxing.

There were parts in that fight where Floyd stood and traded, and Canelo couldn't do ****.

The thing I don't like about Canelo is that he throws everything at full speed or he's not throwing at all. He needs to know when to change speed on his shots and when to turn up the heat.

Very smart fighter, full punch ****nal, but very poor ring generalship. Far from complete. Him and Danny Garcia are displaying cement feet relative to the elite.

Right, Floyd stood in front of him for the most part and even backed him up. Not sure why people keep referring to Floyd's performance as a very mobile one.

I see that too. It's like there is no element of surprise because it seems his power and speed in the same with all his punches.

I think his element of surprise comes with his explosiveness. He is good at finding openings and landing his leather.

Once he finds the opening he lets rip pretty good. And has good timing, knows when to pull the trigger. But the lack of varied rhythm is true also.
