You mean Keith Mullings? Or THIS Steve Mullins? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDWXfgCC5kc Yeah Norris suffered some bad losses against Julian Jackson, Simon Brown and Keith Mullings. And something like 3 DQ losses along the way as well.
Argentinian JCV was a huge puncher at 154. I'll have to look at boxrec to remember what his record was at the time he held a belt at Junior Middle. Edit: Yep, Vasquez gave Winky Wright his first professional loss. JCV made 12 defenses of the WBA 154 belt before losing it to Whitaker in 1995. AMong his title defenses he beat Javier Castillejo, Aaron Davis and Winky Wright. He fought mostly in Argentina and Spain. Vasquez lost the WBA belt to Pernell Whitaker when Pea moved up to 154 for his first and only time. Pea vacated the belt, went back down to 147, and JCV KO'd Carl Daniels in the 11th to recapture the vacant WBA 154 lbs title.
Up until he fought WHitaker in 1995, Vasquez was 53-1 with his sole loss being a DQ against Verno Phillips in 1991.
in other words, he's a monster like Carlos Zarate buildling up an enormous record only to lose once he's on US soil, and to a blown up washed up Pernel just to drive the point home The way Terry handled every big time fighter put in front of him, he would've wasted this guy whenever he wanted. Probably wouldn't have worked up a sweat doing it (see Norris - Gatti). just wasn't worth his time
Agreed .. Norris was an exceptionally talented fighter .. blazing speed, big power, terrific conditioning, huge heart and courage and a nasty guy in the ring .. his chin against big bangers was his liability, an asset Mayweather would never test at 154 ..
In other words, Vasquez would've been Terry's biggest test at 154. He was a huge puncher that many feel Terry avoided. Their championship reigns paralleled each other. Vasquez knocked Whitaker down twice in a fight Pea took because Terry wouldn't.
and all this fear from a fighter who lost to a blown up jr welter in his declining years not likely. Terry, younger than Pernel, faster, and who hit a hell of a lot harder, would put this imposter to sleep in three "many who feel" whomever "many" may be out there, isn't exactly concrete evidence JCV has a shot at Terry and neither is beating someone named WInky Wright sorry friend, the man's too slow and if SRL couldnt do it then JCV sure as HELL isn't going to do it either
surely it wasnt since he was once beaten in the last 11 years and won his previous bout by pitching the perfect shutout by moving, dancing, unleashing 6-8 punch combos that had Duran bewitched bothered N bewildered leonard just didnt have the experience to deal with someone of Terry's speed. If you watch all of Leonard's previous bouts you will see that they all come to him straight in and in slo mo That is, until the emergence of Terry who could beat Leonard a thousand time in a thousand different ways no need to feel shame though; he lasted the full 12 unlike Mugabi couldnt survive three minutes
Vasquez was a long reigning champ. He held a version of the title pretty much during all of Norris's first reign. I think Norris coud have outpointed him if he fought the right fight. But if he insisted on trading all night, Vasquez could have taken him out. It really depends on which type of fight Norris employed. If he fought like the first Simon Brown fight, Vasquez wins by ko. If he fights like the second Brown fight, Norris wins a decision. Vasquez was strong, but a much naturally smaller Pernell Whitaker outpointed him pretty easily by fighting the right fight.
you show you cannot be taken seriously when you are completely dismissive of an established champion such as Vasquez. You have Terry Norris tunnel vision and write as if you were Terry Norris's personal PR representative. You don't have the objectivity necessary to be taken seriously on any thread involving Terry Norris.
Yeah right. Benitez and Hearns were slow and attacked Leonard straight and in slow motion. You are not an expert. You are a Terry Norris stan. That is all.
I like how you bring up Zarate on us soil take it seem like he was exposed when he fought us fighters. But A. Zarate was 11-0 on us soil before he lost and 18-2 overall. And B. Zarate never lost to a us fighter.
How is it possible to be such a huge Terry Norris fan without knowing who Vasquez was? Did you start following his career after the fact? Nothing wrong with that, just curious.
