15 rounds. The Greb who defeated Tommy Gibbons in their fourth bout in 1922 vs the Patterson who KO'd Hurricane Jackson in their rematch in 1957. Patterson has youth, power and size (he's 21lbs heavier) and his own speed will likely negate Greb's, but Greb is far more accomplished and experienced and was adept at beating bigger men. Who wins and why?
Sorry to Greb fans but I am going with Patterson here, Floyd had plenty of speed to burn and had some beautiful punches and I seriously doubt Greb's ability to hurt this young heavyweight. I see Floyd winning by KO too. None of us know what Greb's style really looked like unless you have seen him on film and I doubt it. I never had Greb as a big puncher. I think Floyd would soon realize he could take anything Harry dished out and his left hook and jab would take control and soon he stuns Greb then goes in for the kill. As for Gibbons, Patterson beats the **** out of him.
I don't like to see Greb thrown in against excellent heavyweights, he was a LHW at best. Ali.... Liston... Foreman... Frazier... Holmes..... Tyson..... Holyfield... Lennox.... K2 beat the hell out of Greb and all by KO
I think Patterson hurts him .. Floyd had size, strength, speed and power .. in addition Greb was not a big puncher ..
I do think this is a tall order for Greb. Not so much because of the size difference. Greb handled the Patterson-sized Bill Brennan easily enough. The problem Patterson poses is those very fast hands, which will negate the speed advantage Greb had over most of his opponents, plus KO power in either hand. So I favour Floyd here.
Greb is described as aggressive, fast, amateurish, and with little power. He's not going to beat a skilled power puncher by going at him and is giving up a lot of size ,yet that is Greb's best stuff. Patterson's chin would not be an issue and he like Greb has plenty of stamina. Patterson via later round TKO.
