Wow. He actually tweeted smack. Too bad Duva and HBO wouldn't back it up with real money and engaged in the bid process. He's tweeting checks his promoter and network can't cash.
Yeah in US they will fight whoever accepts but Sergey wanted to fight someone good in front of his countrymen :good Yuneski Gonzalez declined, Beterbiev declined, obviously Ward and Stevenson cost too much money to bring to Russia. It's disappointing to me that he might not fight again this year.
I think he runs the risk of coming off a little bully-ish and as a bad guy with his constant POS talk.
Stevensons response: Adonis Stevenson ‏AdonisSuperman 8h8 hours ago .KrusherKovalev Meet me in the ring. Bring your Twitter fingers. I'll bring your L. These guys need to get around a table. I dont care how or where, it needs to happen.
He's a nobody who should really be campaigning at 160-168, but he's got a decent enough record at 19-0 and is the WBO #1 rated contender to Sergey's title. Yes, lame fight, even lamer considering Boessel's never fought even a moderate puncher on the level of even Cleverly. It'll be a quick out for Sergey, but more money in his bank account, and another cherry popped while he stays busy. :think
Kovalev gets mad praise for tweeting this stuff but Lara gets ridiculed for it. Never go full re **** kids, because most people on ESB have gone there already
With good reason. 25% is insulting to a man who was better known in RUS than Kovalev back in their am days. Artur is going the mandatory route i.e. will force a purse bid where Stevenson was unable to get ME to commit to one - no mandatory there. Artur is a different story, he'll put tremendous pressure on Kov. Kovalev can't put bums in seats, that 50/50 offer to Stevenson is also quite insulting considering they would be fighting in a packed Bell Centre. Don't get me wrong, it'd be packed because Montrealers know the pimp would go down for good - and they wanna see it, trust me. Kovalev's deal with HBO will continue to hurt him if he can't participate in purse bids vs Haymon guys. It's on him, and it sucks.
Umm......GGG and Lara had a tentative deal in place prior to GGGs dad dying. After that, Haymon, his "advisor" squashed ANY and ALL possible HBO fights for his guys. After GGG becomes a PPV attraction, perhaps Haymon will consider allowing his fighter to fight outside the PBC. And NO ONE.....NO ONE criticizes Lara for tweeting to GGG. That said.....it's fluff b/c he knows Haymon won't allow it. Same with Stevenson who continues to fight the journeymen on PBC knowing full well he coulda made 2 mil and proved he was the top dog at 175 had he took HBO up on their deal. atschatschatsch
