And unlike Nigel, Eubank had NO quit in him.. and unlike Joe, never pulled out of fights or fought once in a blue moon.. more like monthly than yearly..!

In fact, its tempting to place Eubank ahead of Calzaghe..

Eubank lost 5 times, drew twice and could have had more losses...don't even put him in the same sentence as Calzaghe

Calzaghe wouldve been knocked out by the first Jab Carl Thompson landed.. I thought Reid and Hopkins beat Calzaghe.. and Starie and Brewer (& to a lesser extent Kessler) made every round razor close.. & a 93-95 Benn was a world beater with his new style

you cant compare Calzaghe to Chris Eubank, one threw illegal open hand shots and the other threw from his toe and connected with the outer knuckles (tho against Calzaghe Eubank was forced to match slap with slap due to bad knees).. its just a big shame that Chris didnt show up against Collins the 2nd time..

Eubank was 43-0 against far better comp.. Calzaghe got out at the right time before he started losing (to Dawson/Froch/Ward)..

    Hello Herol Gee :hi:
I actually think you have 3 alts - atberry, bulldog, and herol gee:nut

Ok so you hate Calzaghe with a passion so you make completely deluded comments. No one could knock out Calzaghe his chin and defence and everything else was just too good.

get this through to your head, Calzaghe was better than Eubank in every department,. Calzaghe was A* level in overall abilty, a special fighter, a one off.

Eubank was the main man in British sport for many years. Calzaghe was a complete joke for many, many years. I am in complete agreement with atberry regarding the skill factor, Eubank was light years head of Calzaghe in technique and boxing ability. Calzaghe was nobody until 2006, nothing, whereas Eubank was a special one-off from 1990 if there ever was one. A law unto himself!

The gross overrating of Calzaghe based on pitter-patting punch bags (Lacy, Manfredo, Jones) is disgusting, and in years from now it will dawn on people.

Eubank was a throwback in many ways, Calzaghe a disgrace. Granted Calzaghe had a half-decent chin, and my God, he needed it! He absorbed more right hands in his career than most fighters have hot dinners.

Francis at his best stops Calzaghe seven days a week, and twice on a Sunday.

you are in agreement with yourself you mean you ****ing loser everyone know you and atberry are the same person and your probably herol gee too

Calzaghe is one of the best british boxers ever, if not.. the best ever. A hall of famer unlike Eubank.. He was exceptional.. he was A level in every department including defence hence why he kept his looks right up to the end of his career

you are taking hatred of calzaghe too far with the laughable dean francis statement and exposing yourself of being herol gee its the equivalent of saying anthony crolla would have stopped ken buchanan.
no one stopped calzaghe or ever even came close to it

If he was 'A level in every department' (whatever that means) he wouldn't of clearly lost to flat-footed Robin Reid by three rounds or been dropped on his ass in 30 seconds or so by men in their 40s, or struggled with average fighters like David Starie and Sakio Bika, or fail to shine against Rick Thornberry!

He was wide open to right hands, squared on, winging shots - nothing pretty, although got the job done once a year against some amateur-like nobody from somewhere for a decade before 'stepping up' after nine years of mediocrity and nonentity, against a musclebound punch bag in Lacy (if we're honest).

'Hall of Fame' is a US thing, if Calzaghe didn't go to America in his last two of 46 fights, he would never have got in to that thing.

The best British fighters ever are Owen Moran, Ted Kid Lewis, Jack Kid Berg, Bob Fitzsimmons, Jimmy Wilde, Ken Buchanan and Herol Graham. I would probably say Graham is the best I've seen, although the best singular performance would be Watson against Eubank II or Honeyghan over Curry. The next league I would have Eubank, Driscoll, Conteh, Watson, Welsh, Lennox, Hamed. And then you've got, after that, your Turpins, your Benns, your Dean Francis, your Calzaghes.

You have to look at resume and who they fought etc

    Calzaghe
    Eubank
    Collins
    Benn
    Froch

Calzaghe is a clear number 1 with his wins and resume,
Eubank a clear number 2 with his resume and defences
from 3 onwards it can be debateable, but I think Collins has arguably the best SMW win ever in beating undefeated Eubank and then beat Eubank again, throw in 2 wins over Benn, the Sellier win and Collins is 3 for me especially when you consider his resume at SMW is better than any other active fighter today who has fought at SMW.
4 I gave to Benn, for his wins over McClellen, Wharton, Nardiello, Eubank Draw, Malinga to name a few
5 I would give to Froch but its tough to call. I think Frochs win over Bute was sensational and is the win that in my mind puts Froch up there, but I think an arguement could be made for Woodhall or maybe Reid

If Kessler who is half British is allowed than I would have Kessler at 3 and everyone below gets bumped up a place which would make it
    Calzaghe
    Eubank
    Kessler
    Collins
    Benn

I'm talking about ability, not achievement.

Herol Graham never won a world title, but he was the best British boxer we've seen. By the time he fought (and played with for six rounds) the great McCallum, he was already five years past his best.

How can you say that when he lost his only fight at super middleweight to EUBANK?
