"But do I really think that about Mayweather? No, I don't. I definitely think he's a great fighter -- I wouldn't take that away from him -- but you can't say best ever until everything stops, each generation is supposed to get better.

"He will definitely go down as one of the great fighters in whatever weight division they choose to put him in. He won the championship in a lot of divisions, but he never fought everybody."

He's right each generation is supposed to get better but he chose to water down the sport with his match making .

    Juan Manuel Marquez?
    14-6-1 vs. world champions.

    Roy Jones Jr?

He's one of the few fighters who probably did face everyone that mattered when he had the chance. Almost anyone else saying what he did you could criticize him by saying "Hey you didn't fight this guy" but you can't really do that with Holyfield. Even someone as fearless as De La Hoya didn't fight Wright. But Evander beat everyone that mattered, Bowe, Moorer, Tyson, Foreman, Mercer, Holmes, Rahman, Ruiz, Byrd and of course Lewis.

With a record like that, he is in a position where he can criticize others without being called a hypocrite.

Fought them when they were at or close to their peak as well, but didn't beat all (Lennox) of course.
That's what great boxers do, fight them and when it matters.

But then again, Holy has something else that taints his accomplishments.

And look at who Holy fought compared to Floyd!

Evander only fought in TWO divisions yet has beaten more ATG's than Floyd!

Notice that the one guy who is undefeated and has all these wins over mostly belt holders doesnt have 1 great fighter in his prime this just illustrates s how week of an era he fought in !

Evander is one of the few boxers that has the resume and right to criticize any other fighters resume. :patsch

Regardless of him overstaying his welcome and not retiring when he should have.

If he was commenting on following the rules then yes but in regards to level of opposition then he's within in his full rights to criticize based upon his own resume.

Holyfield is guy with a very low IQ, ruined his career and mismanaged his financials. How on earth does he dare to criticize Floyd - given his own history of bankruptcy and series of losses to B rated opponents in the twilight of his career.

Holyfield handpicked bums like Ruiz to fight 3 times, he should be ashamed of picking on Floyd.
