He was famous after the olympic games, the whole world watches the games

Most here don't even know who Floyd, Pac or Wlad are. Last real household name was Tyson, and Foreman and Holyfield to a lesser extend

In the US I'm sure Mayweather and maybe even Pac are household names but I'm sure in most countries most wouldn't recognise them at all even if they have heard of their names.

Boxing is a niche sport now and only those who cross over become household names and even then only in their countries. Look at Wlad, Olympic champion, famous actress wife, yet I doubt most US households could pick him up from a line up. I was on a non boxing forum a few weeks ago and someone posted an image of Wlad and Hayden and joked about the height difference, the vast majority of people didn't know who Wlad was. Wlad in some countries in Europe will be famous in other countries he's just be some huge guy.

This rather speaks aginst the situation of boxing in the UK, when a 24 year old guy with 15 fights against bums is the big name in boxing, right?

British boxing is very healthy and should be for some time, we have a very solid group under that who should go on to win world titles too but us Brits love a Heavyweight so you will have to forgive some of the Brits overexcitement.

It happens all over the world with Heavyweights, I remember quite a few US boxing fans getting hyper about Seth Mitchell because he was blowing people away. I don't say that taking the p***, a lot of UK fans were over the top about David Price

 

British boxing is not on elite level. I don't see any British boxer today who would be able to beat Wladimir, Glowacki, Kovalev, Golovkin, Lomachenko, Rigo or Canelo.

Tyon Fury is NOT British btw. I rate him very high but he's an Irish dude.

 

I'm in a small town on the west coast of British Columbia and I've seen him fight once or twice for what it's worth and liked what I saw. He is well spoken and looks like he would make a good ambassador for the sport. He looks pretty fluid for a heavyweight, athletic. He has obviously been well matched, but from what I can tell, he's doing what he should against the limited opposition he has faced so far. I'll be keeping an eye out for him.

 

No, never. He went to jail for drug dealing and got spared more time because he ws supposed to represent the UK in the Olympics. This guy is a thug who threatene a journalist during an interview. He is not good for the image of boxing.

On the other hand, I criticized him as well as a fighter, but I like him more and more. He is definetly good for European boxing and I rate him higher than the likes of Wilder, Jennings etc.
